Walt Disney World Resort is gearing up for the highly anticipated opening of the TRON Lightcycle/Run attraction. This ride has been in the works for years and fans are thrilled to see all of the pieces finally come together. Disney is making the TRON opening a very special experience for Guests visiting Tomorrowland in Magic Kingdom Park. They have just announced a new food kiosk and a merchandise collection that is sure to make TRON’s attraction even more exciting.
An Interactive Retail Experience Comes to Magic Kingdom
Disney is pulling out all the stops for TRON. Disney has just announced a new Disney experience that will be coming to Tommorowland. In true Disney fashion, TRON will have plenty of merchandise available for purchase. However, the centerpiece of the new collection is the TRON Identity Program, which Disney explained as “an all-new retail experience.”
At the TRON Identity Program, Guests will have the opportunity to purchase a personalized “Program” action figure. Each action figure will use technology to be customized so it can resemble and sound like the Guest who purchases it. This is something we have seen before in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, where Guests can purchase a customized action figure from the world of Avatar. TRON’s version definitely seems more detailed, as Guests can personalize outfits, body shapes, team colors, and roles within the TRON universe. Guests can also record up to six lines of dialogue to add to their toy.
The TRON figures have something extra special in them. Each one will come with an “identity chip” embedded in it. These chips can be used to “re-program” other TRON merchandise, including the interactive Identity Discs and the toy remote control TRON Lightcycle.
These action figures are expected to be very popular, so Guests who want to purchase one will need to make a reservation. Reservations can be made starting March 21. The merchandise store will be located in a pop-up shop located across from the Monsters Inc. laugh Floor entrance in Tomorrowland. The TRON pop-up and the TRON coaster, TRON Lightcycle/Run, will open to the general public in Walt Disney World on April 4.
