Last October, Disney officially ended its popular FastPass system and replaced it with a new system called Disney Genie+. Disney Genie+ was the paid-for portion of the entire Disney Genie system — which is designed to help Guests plan their perfect Disney day. Disney Genie lets Guests input certain preferences — like where they want to eat, what shows they want to see, and what rides are must-dos — and give them time suggestions to get it all done. Getting rid of the old FastPass system was a controversial decision and, since its launch, many Guests have commented that the new Disney Genie service and Disney Genie+ are a little difficult to use and are affecting their Disney experience.
Disney has apparently been listening to Guests’ struggles and has worked out a new system to try to help them before their Walt Disney World vacation. Guests who visit the Disney Genie section of the Walt Disney World Resort website will now see that six new videos have been added to the site. There are videos to help Guests with the following parts of Disney Genie+:
- An Introduction to Disney Genie+
- Learning About Your Tip Board and Your Personalized Day
- How to Use Lightning Lane Entrances
- How to Purchase and Use Individual Attraction Selections
- How to Make Lightning Lane Reservations Through Disney Genie+
- Even More Magic With Disney Genie+
If you are unfamiliar with Disney Genie+, here’s some more information on Disney’s newest ride booking system:
For the price of $15 per ticket per day at Walt Disney World Resort and $20 per ticket per day at Disneyland Resort, choose the next available time to arrive at a variety of attractions and experiences using the Lightning Lane entrance. You can make one selection at a time, throughout the day – from classics like Haunted Mansion to thrill rides like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and newer favorites like Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run (attractions subject to limited availability). This convenient option is the next evolution of the fan-favorite Disney MaxPass service from Disneyland Resort. Disney Genie+ will also include Disney parks-themed audio experiences and photo features to capture your memories – augmented reality lenses for those visiting Walt Disney World Resort and unlimited Disney PhotoPass downloads from your day if you are visiting Disneyland Resort.
Disney’s Lightning Lane may not be as simple to understand as Disney Park FastPass system was, but it can definitely help make your day in the Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Animal Kingdom, or Disney’s Hollywood Studios much easier.
