This is a shocking new development.
The lawsuit between the Walt Disney Company and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has just gotten a shocking new development.
For the past few months, the world has watched the battle between DeSantis and Disney progress. What started as Disney trying to prevent the state of Florida from revoking the massive legal protections provided to Reedy Creek has turned into a heated dispute over social justice issues. Now, a new development has majorly shifted the situation.
DeSantis vs. Disney: A Complete Nightmare for Florida
The issue between Disney and DeSantis began when the Florida Governor began trying to revoke the special tax privileges Disney had over the Reedy Creek Improvement District in Central Florida. Since being created in 1967, Disney has had unprecedented power over the district. This is why when DeSantis suddenly took an interest in reclaiming the land, more than a few eyebrows were raised by Disney’s supporters.

Not long after, the Walt Disney Company filed a lawsuit over the issue, alleging that the DeSantis administration was engaging in “government retaliation” by attempting to revoke the legal protections provided to Reedy Creek. Many fans believe that the entire Reedy Creek situation was really DeSantis punishing Disney CEO Bob Iger for speaking out against his “Don’t Say Gay” bills.
DeSantis Makes Bold Attempt to Dismiss Lawsuit
Now, on June 26, 2023, Gov Ron DeSantis made a move that has shocked critics and supporters alike. DeSantis’ attorneys filed a motion to dismiss the Disney lawsuit. Even more shocking is the fact that the state is claiming that as Governor, he “is entitled to absolute legislative immunity for that act in any event.”

It is very clear to the public that DeSantis does not wish to engage in this lawsuit. Now long ago, he filed a motion to have the assigned Judge removed. The public feels that this behavior is Governor DeSantis admitting that he knows he was a fault. Now, fans will have to wait and see if the two parties will ever actually meet up in court.
