Disney World Quietly Updates Asia Theming at Animal Kingdom Theme Park
Walt Disney World Resort has made a small, unannounced change in Asia at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, where a strand of decorative lanterns has disappeared from outside one of the park’s long-running live shows.
What Changed Outside the Anandapur Theater
On October 5, WDWNT reported that the hanging lanterns near the entrance to Feathered Friends in Flight! are gone. Before the removal, dozens of colorful lanterns matching the look of the land hung from light strands above the walkway outside the Anandapur Theater.
Now, only bare, colorful lightbulbs remain, suspended at varying heights from wires strung well overhead. Walt Disney World Resort hasn’t explained the change, so it’s unclear whether the lanterns were pulled for maintenance, are being replaced, or won’t return at all. The company also hasn’t said whether the exposed bulbs are intended to stay. As with most minor adjustments at the Central Florida Disney parks, there has been no public comment.
About Feathered Friends in Flight!
The 35-minute Feathered Friends in Flight! show has been running since 2020, introducing Disney’s Animal Kingdom guests to some of the theme park’s live bird residents alongside their keepers. Audiences see a range of species demonstrate their natural behaviors while learning about each one.
The theater has hosted bird-centered entertainment for decades. Flights of Wonder opened alongside Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park in 1998, followed by “UP! A Great Bird Adventure,” inspired by Up (2009), before Feathered Friends in Flight! took over.
Showtimes can change, so Walt Disney World Resort guests should check the My Disney Experience app or the entertainment schedule posted inside Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park for current scheduling information.
