A Decade In, Something Is Changing at This Fan-Favorite Spot at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Ten years after it opened on Discovery Island, Nomad Lounge is getting a convenience upgrade that could save guests a seat and some time. Walt Disney World Resort says one of the bar’s most talked-about snacks will soon be available without a sit-down visit.

Nomad Lounge sits next to Tiffin’s Restaurant at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, and its Gluten-Free Churros have built a devoted following over the years. Until now, Central Florida Disney Park guests who wanted the fried cinnamon-sugar treat had to dine inside the lounge.

Walt Disney World Resort recently announced that the churros will soon be offered through Mobile Ordering in the My Disney Experience app, so guests can collect them and keep exploring Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park.

Placing an Order

The churros cost $11 and come with two dipping sauces, Vanilla Crema and Apple Butter. Ordering starts by choosing “Nomad Lounge To Go” in the Mobile Ordering section of the app. Guests then:

  • Pick an Arrival Window.
  • Add as many orders of churros as they want.
  • Select a payment method.
  • Head to Nomad Lounge to pick up their order, tapping “I’m Here, Prepare My Order” if the app asks once the Arrival Window opens.

Because Arrival Windows are limited, ordering ahead is the safest bet. Pickup also requires a valid theme park ticket and, if applicable, a Disney Park Pass Reservation for Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park.

Limits to Keep in Mind

The churros are the only item coming to the app. Specialty beverages and other small bites will remain available only in person, and Nomad Lounge continues to be walk-up only with no reservations accepted.

Mobile Ordering isn’t live at Nomad Lounge just yet. Walt Disney World Resort hasn’t named a date, saying only that it should be available soon.
