On Saturday evening, shortly before midnight, officers with the Orlando Police Department were dispatched to Dezerland, an amusement park located on International Drive in Central Florida, approximately ten miles northeast of the Walt Disney World Resort. A person had reportedly fired shots into a crowded parking lot at Dezerland Park, injuring three 14-year-olds. On the night of the shooting, the minors were transported to nearby Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children, located five miles from Dezerland. One of the young victims was listed in critical condition.
According to an announcement on Monday by Orlando Police officers, that child has died. He was identified as 14-year-old Trevon Robinson from Hillsborough County, Florida.
The second victim in the shooting, also a 14-year-old male, is still hospitalized. He is said to be in critical but stable condition. The third victim–another 14-year-old male–has already been released from Arnold Palmer Children’s Hospital. At this time, investigators working on the case say that they have not yet identified a suspect, and the investigation is ongoing.
As this continues to be a developing story, more information will be shared as it is made available. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families as they navigate through this difficult situation.
