Things just got a whole lot more interesting for Disney’s Star Wars hotel.
There is no denying that Star Wars is one of the most popular and beloved science fiction franchises in the world. Ever since the first movie was released in 1977, fans of all ages have been captivated by the epic story. Over the years, Star Wars has become more than just a movie series; it has transformed into a cultural phenomenon. Its reach eventually stemmed into the Disney theme Parks, where both Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort received Star Wars-themed lands.
Galaxy’s Edge has been a massive success for Disney Parks, so much so that Disney decided to try something new. In 2022, Disney opened the Galactic Starcruiser, an immersive hotel experience unlike any other.
Doomed From the Start: Disney’s Galactic Starcruiser
The Galactic Starcruiser was a fully immersive experience that allowed Guests to live out their Star Wars fantasies like never before. From the moment you stepped into the Galactic Starcruiser, you felt like you were on a real-life spaceship, traveling through space to different planets and encountering new creatures and characters along the way.
Unfortunately, the Galatic Starcruiser never managed to find its audience. Fans were immediately shocked by the high price point of the immersive entertainment, which started at $5,000 for a standard cabin voyage. Many Guests also complained that the lack of windows made them feel claustrophobic.
Final Voyages… For Now?
A few weeks ago, Disney announced that on September 30, the Galactic Starcruiser would be finishing its final voyage. While it is understandable why the hotel is closing down, fans are left wondering what will become of the property. Disney invested millions into the project, and it would be shocking to see them shut it down.
We now know that Disney does have a plan for the future of the Galactic Starcruiser Hotel. In a podcast interview with The Points Guy, Josh D’Amaro revealed that something is definitely happening with the Starcruiser.
