An adult Disney California Adventure Park guest recently pushed a child off a Halloween-themed Cars Land vehicle for a photo-op. This act shocked onlookers, who called the grown-up Disneyland Resort guest “entitled.“
On Reddit, u/sleestakarmy recounted the incident: “On Friday I watched an adult push a kid off and out of the way to get a photo on one of the Halloween themed Cars.”
Fortunately, the decorative vehicles within Cars Land do not move, significantly minimizing the risk of injury to the child involved. Still, the incident undoubtedly left an emotional impact.
The Disney Park guest denounced the so-called “Disney Adults” as “self-entitled assholes” who made them desire never to return to Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure Park, or Downtown Disney District.
“This was my first and probably last time I will set foot in there,” they wrote.
The Culture of “Disney Adults”
The term “Disney Adults” refers to a growing demographic of individuals who frequent parks like Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort for nostalgia, enjoyment, or cultural immersion. These adults are stereotyped as prioritizing their experiences, sometimes at the expense of those around them. While many enjoy their time at these parks respectfully, a vocal minority has garnered attention for disruptive and occasionally aggressive behavior.
Disneyland Resort and Disney California Adventure Park have long been lauded as sanctuaries for family fun. Still, the emergence of this entitled behavior among some adults raises critical questions about the experience these parks offer to children and families. Reports of adults taking up space and resources meant for young guests have led to discussions about balancing adult enjoyment and child-centric activities.
“The parks are too crowded with 30+yr olds for kids to have any fun,” one Disney Park guest argued earlier this year. “… That’s the problem…A family of 3/4 pays more than 2 30+ yr old adults.”
