Bugs Found in Disney Ice Cream!

There are a lot of delicious toppings you may want to mix into ice cream, but today, we have one that might surprise you. People love all different toppings, chocolate, caramel, fruit, and candy, but what about bugs?!

Yep, that’s right. If you’re visiting Disney Springs this season, beware because you might just find creepy crawlers in your ice cream!

Salt and Straw

Salt and Straw opened its location at Disney Springs in 2022 and, since then, has been keeping Guests on their toes with some wild flavor combinations. This ice cream shop first opened its doors in 2011 in Portland, Oregon. Since its start, it’s grown to include numerous locations across five states.

Salt and Straw was created by Kim Malek and her cousin Tyler, two individuals with hopes of building community but with no experience in making ice cream! Their unique flavors have put them on the map and kept Guests returning time after time to try new flavors.

Bugs in Ice Cream?!

This Halloween season, Salt and Straw at Disney Springs is putting bugs in their ice cream! It’s all a part of their new limited edition Scoops and Skulls Series. The flavor Don Bugito’s Creepy Crawly Critters features a Matcha Ice Cream base with chocolate covered crickets and toffee-brittled mealworms.

The Disney Dining team headed to Salt and Straw to check out the new flavors released this Fall.

The Scoops and Skulls Series contains five seasonal flavors:

• Chocolate Champuurrado with Sesame Toffee
• Blackberry Tamales
• The Great Candycopia
• Jack o’ Lantern Pumpkin Bread
• Don Bugito’s Creepy Crawly Critters

If you’re not feeling the bugs in your ice cream, try a different fall flavor like the Jack o’ Lantern Pumpkin Bread. This flavor combines Pumpkin Spice Ice Cream, pumpkin bread, and a whipped cream cheese frosting for a sweet and delicious treat. The Great Candycopia, features four different homemade candy bars (Kit Kats, Reese’s, Snickers, and Heath bars) with Butterscotch Ice Cream.
