Credit: Disney

Oh boy! Hiya pals! In honor of Mickey and Minnie’s birthday, Disney Parks has some exciting news!!!! Mickey’s Toontown is finally going to reopen at Disneyland! The beloved area closed March 2022 to be completely reimagined and after the sneak peek we got at D23, we can confidently say it will have been worth the wait!

The newly redesigned area will reopen on March 8, 2023! Before that though, Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, the area’s brand new headliner, opens before the rest of the land on January 27, 2023 to kickoff Disney 100 Years of Wonder Celebration at Disneyland Resort! Each part of Mickey’s Toontown will be designed with small children in mind (but there will be much for adults to enjoy as well!) Ready to see what the rest of Mickey’s Toontown has in store? Let’s dive in:

When it reopens, Mickey’s Toontown will have lots of open green space to relax and take a breather from the fast pace of Disney Park life! CenTOONial Park (pictured above) will be the first space guestssee and will be home to not one, but two exciting play areas!  There will also be a beautiful fountain featuring water tables designed for sensory play, plus a nearby dreaming tree with sculpted tree roots providing an opportunity for children to crawl and explore.

Goofy’s How-to -Play Yard  be a space for young and old alike to let loose and just…play! A whimsical sound garden awaits where kids will discover new ways to make wacky noises, and silly symphonies! There’s also a clubhouse where kids can dream up adventures and let their imaginations run wild.

Further in, you’ll find Goofy’s House. Can I just say, 37 year old me is super jealous of this experience.  When I was young, Mickey and Minnie’s houses were a walk through attraction where younwerent allowed to touch anything. Not here! This interactive house let’s kids try out Goofy’s candy making machine. The confectionery contraption begins high outside of Goofy’s home, as drips of honey fall from a beehive onto a chute that slides the colorful drops around and down into the home. From there, junior candymakers will help Goofy make the candy, and the silly sounds of household appliances will combine to make the experience well…goofy!

If the Southern California heat is getting to you,  Donald’s Boat House has the relief you need!! This splash pad is perched, fittingly, on the duck pond at the edge of Goofy’s homestead. You also can look into the boat through the portholes to witness bubbles of fun inside the flooded vessel and interact with some familiar ducklings including Huey, Dewey, Louie and Webby.

There is so much to love about this new area from brand new activities  to returning favorites (like Mickey and Minnie’s house)! These are just a few of the exciting updates Mickey’s ToontownMickey’s Toontown has in store! We can’t wait to go and play!
