Disney World Confirms Fate of Disney Springs Area After Two-Month Closure
A large section of a popular Disney Springs gift shop is open again after sitting behind barriers for almost two months, and Walt Disney World Resort guests returning to it will find little that looks different.
How the Closure Unfolded

Work at the Marketplace Co-Op started earlier this summer, when black curtains and other barriers went up across part of the store. The bigger shutdown came in early August, when Walt Disney World Resort closed the entire back half of the merchandise location. That portion is laid out much like a convention floor, with open-concept “booths” themed around different souvenirs, all set in a big, warehouse-style space.
Disney never explained what it had in mind. New flooring eventually appeared throughout the Marketplace Co-Op in September, but the back half remained closed even after that. Throughout the stretch, the front half of the store continued to operate with a limited selection of merchandise, as did the attached Tren-D clothing store.
The Back Half Reopens

On October 8, X (formerly known as Twitter) user @laughingplace posted a photo confirming the reopening, writing:

Walt Disney World Resort doesn’t appear to have made any major alterations, so the project most likely involved basic repainting or infrastructure maintenance. The shop in the Marketplace neighborhood continues to sell its usual mix of housewares, clothing, tech accessories, and other Disney Parks-themed souvenirs.
What Guests Should Know

Disney hasn’t indicated whether more construction is planned for the Marketplace Co-Op. For now, the store is open from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Hours can change, so checking the My Disney Experience app or the Walt Disney World Resort website before a visit is a good idea.
