Another Disney Springs Shopping Location Just Got Blocked Off

Disney Springs is changing again, and the latest location to become partially unavailable to guests is one that has always been worth paying attention to.

Floor-to-ceiling black construction curtains have gone up inside the Marketplace Co-op at Disney Springs, blocking off a substantial central section of the store’s interior showroom floor. Disney has not announced what is happening behind the curtains, what concept is being refreshed, or when the refurbishment will be complete.

The building is still partially open. But guests who were planning a specific shopping trip to the Marketplace Co-op need to know what they will and will not find when they arrive.

What the Marketplace Co-op Is

The Marketplace Co-op is not a standard Disney retail location. It has always functioned as a rotating incubator for boutique shops, specialized test concepts, and unique pop-up experiences that Disney uses to introduce new merchandise ideas in a real shopping environment. Over the years, it has been home to WonderGround Gallery, D-Tech On Demand, Disney Centerpiece, and specialized showcases for Disney Cruise Line and runDisney, among other concepts.

The rotating nature of the location means the floor plan and tenants change regularly. Black construction curtains going up inside the Co-op typically signal either a refresh of the structural layout or the arrival of a new merchandise collection and a themed storefront. Given the substantial footprint of the current curtain walls, a significant layout adjustment appears to be underway.

What Is Still Accessible

The rest of the Marketplace Co-op building remains open during the interior refurbishment. The adjacent Tren-D boutique and the perimeter merchandise displays throughout the space are accessible to guests who visit during the refurbishment period. The central section of the store is completely hidden behind the construction curtains and not accessible to guests.

Guests planning general browsing will find a partially reduced shopping floor. Guests who were specifically planning to visit a boutique concept previously housed in the central section should be aware that area is not currently available.

The Bigger Disney Springs Context

The Marketplace Co-op refurbishment is the latest in a series of retail and dining changes happening across the Marketplace district at Disney Springs. The CrazyShake by Black Tap pop-up closed at the end of May after its planned 90-day run. The Ghirardelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop is preparing for a relocation and significant overhaul. The Marketplace side of Disney Springs is visibly in transition right now with multiple locations either recently closed, currently changing, or preparing for something new.

No timeline has been announced for the Marketplace Co-op refurbishment. No concept has been confirmed for the space behind the curtains. Whatever Disney is building in that central section will be revealed when it is ready.

Given the Marketplace Co-op’s history of rotating in genuinely interesting boutique concepts, the wait is likely to be worth it. But guests visiting before it is done need to navigate around the construction zone and manage their expectations accordingly.
