Dwayne Johnson, also known as “The Rock,” is a multifaceted individual who has left an indelible mark on the entertainment industry. From his start as a professional wrestler to developing his successful acting career, Johnson’s charisma and talent have continuously captivated audiences around the world.
Born on May 2, 1972, in Hayward, California, Dwayne Douglas Johnson comes from a family with deep roots in the wrestling world. His father, Rocky Johnson, was a trailblazer in the industry and a former WWE Champion. Following in his father’s footsteps, Dwayne began his wrestling career. However, in 2019, Johnson stepped away from the ring in order to seriously pursue his acting career.
Now, in 2023, “the Rock” is finally back in the world of wrestling.

Did Hollywood Drive Johnson Back to Wrestling?
While Johnson’s acting career has thrived in the past, recent events have stalled quite a few of his upcoming projects. The ongoing WAG and SAG-AFTRA strikes have made it impossible for Johnson to continue working on his upcoming projects, including the live-action Moana film, where he is set to reprise his role as Maui.
Speaking of Moana, Johnson has also found himself entrenched in a major controversy. Many members of the public were quick to cancel the actor when he, alongside Oprah Winfrey, asked their fans to crowd-fund money to send to Maui after their brutal wildfire. Many fans thought that it was inconsiderate for a person as wealthy as Dwayne Johnson to ask his fans to open their wallets.

WWE Welcomes Dwayne Johnson Back With Open Arms
Perhaps all of the turmoil in Hollywood has led Dwayne Johnson back to his roots with WWE, World Wrestling Entertainment. On Friday, September 15, Dwayne Johnson shocked fans when he made a surprise appearance at the WWE Smackdown event. In a video from the live event, fans jump to their feet when they realize that he is there.
