Cast members at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort have started wearing new uniforms with no skirt option, and Walt Disney World Resort hasn’t said a word about it.
Where the Rules Stand

The “Disney Look” guidelines have governed cast member appearance for decades, based on Walt Disney’s vision for Disneyland Park employees. They once banned all visible tattoos, required different uniforms for men and women, and set strict limits on hair color, painted nails, piercings, and facial hair.
In 2021, Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort announced the biggest overhaul of those rules ever. Some non-natural hair colors, select visible tattoos and piercings, and more freedom with jewelry and nail art were allowed.

The biggest shift was removing gender-specific language altogether. Hairstyle, nail polish, and grooming rules applied to all cast members, and employees of any gender could wear any costume combination available at their location. Before that, those who presented as male couldn’t wear the dresses and skirts offered to female-presenting colleagues.
The New Look at the Polynesian

WDWNT reported on October 26 that cast members at the Deluxe Disney Resort hotel had debuted new shirts and pants, with no skirt option for anyone who would prefer one.
The outfits pair colorful short-sleeve button-up shirts with the same khaki pants. Shirt fabric differs by work location, such as merchandise, the Front Desk, or Concierge. The previous costumes combined floral-patterned tops with either skirts or pants.
A Gradual Rollout

Employees told WDWNT the new costumes began appearing on Sunday, October 25, and that everyone at the hotel will switch over in the coming weeks. As of Monday, October 26, cast members at the Capt. Cook’s Quick-Service dining location were still in the Moana (2016)-inspired costumes introduced in 2021.
