John Carpenter’s Halloween (1978) remains one of the most influential slasher horror movies ever made, and now, developer IllFonic has found a new way to revisit the night Michael Myers “came home” and terrorized the quiet town of Haddonfield, Illinois.

Released in September, Halloween: The Game (2026) brings the masked killer back to the streets where his story began, recreating the events of John Carpenter’s slasher classic through an interactive multiplayer experience that gives players a chance to shape the night’s outcome.
Several familiar faces from the film return, including Laurie Strode, voiced by Chelsea Krause, alongside Annie Brackett (Kaitlyn Robrock), Lynda van der Klok (Angela Carbone), Bob Simms (Nicholas Leung), Sheriff Brackett (Joe Ochman), Nurse Chambers (Heather Gonzalez), Lindsey Wallace (Quinn Kitmitto), and Dr. Loomis (Colin Mahan).
They’re joined by new characters collectively known as the “Heroes of Haddonfield.”

Rather than simply retelling the movie, the developers describe the single-player part of the game, which allows you to take control of Michael himself, as “a reimagined extended cut” of the original. The story expands on the familiar events with additional characters, more victims, and new details surrounding Myers’ escape from Smith’s Grove Sanitarium and his mysterious abilities.
The official game description sums up the central conflict: “Choose to save the quiet town of Haddonfield from bloodshed as a Hero of Haddonfield or stalk and terrorize the residents as Michael Myers.”
While the original movie remains untouched, Halloween: The Game offers fans a chance to experience its terrifying events from a different perspective, whether they’re trying to survive Myers or becoming the Boogeyman themselves.
