The Orlando Airport Changes Every Theme Park Traveler Should Know

Orlando International Airport (MCO) is growing, and travelers heading to Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando Resort, and other Central Florida attractions are already seeing the changes.

At its most recent board meeting, the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA) highlighted projects completed in fiscal year 2026 and outlined plans for additional upgrades.

Here’s what’s new and what’s coming.

Terminal and Travel Upgrades

New Pedestrian Bridge
An enclosed bridge now connects the Train Station to Terminal C. It includes moving walkways, making it easier for rail travelers to reach the terminal.

New Terminal C Wing
A new wing serves Gates 250 through 254. It adds capacity and gives Virgin Atlantic a new home.

Family Zones
Three new Family Zones, one in each terminal, give kids a place to play, read, and relax before flights.

Updated Signs
New signage throughout the airport, parking garages, and nearby roadways helps travelers find their way.

Parking Improvements

Travelers will be happy about this. Parking is a big focus as MCO prepares for growth.

Parking Guidance System

  • Launching in Terminal C
  • Rolling out in phases to all garages through mid-2027
  • Designed to help drivers find open spaces faster

More Spaces for Travelers

  • Dedicated employee parking areas free up spots for the public
  • Two new parking garages are being planned
  • Together, they’ll add about 8,000 public parking spaces

Beautiful Airports Program
A $40 million program is improving parking facilities, terminals, and other areas, with a focus on appearance, safety, and functionality.

New International Flights

Tokyo, Japan
ZIPAIR introduced nonstop passenger charter flights between Orlando and Tokyo. It’s the first passenger charter service between Florida and the Asia-Pacific region.

Madrid, Spain
Iberia launched nonstop flights between Orlando and Madrid, adding another direct route to Europe.

Major Investments

Several large projects are supporting the airport’s expansion:

  • $26 million redevelopment by Signature Aviation at MCO
  • $40 million Sky Harbour campus at Orlando Executive Airport

GOAA CEO Lance Lyttle said, “We are undertaking an ambitious effort to redefine what it means to deliver a world-class airport experience.”

The Aviation Authority is also:

  • Updating its Local Developing Business program
  • Introducing a new Small Business program for qualifying Florida businesses
