Disneyland Reveals Progress on New Theme Park Entrance in California
A new gateway into Disneyland Resort is slowly coming into view. Photos from this week show the framework of a security screening area rising between Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park, though the resort hasn’t said when it will open to theme park guests.
Where the Project Began

Work in the Esplanade started in mid-August 2026, when Disneyland Resort began tearing down four ticket booths. Removing them cleared the way for a pedestrian bridge linking to a new parking structure. That garage is planned to include 6,000 parking spaces, more than 300 electric-vehicle charging stations, a security office, and a dedicated drop-off and pickup zone for shuttles and rideshares.
Alongside the bridge and garage, Disneyland Resort is constructing a fresh security screening checkpoint between the two Disney parks. The structure will presumably be needed to handle the larger crowds expected once visitors begin arriving over the pedestrian bridge.
A Look at the Framework

The “skeleton” refers mainly to the wooden framing of the shade structure that will sit over the screening lanes. When complete, it will protect security cast members and guests from sun and rain as they enter the Southern California destination. Since the photos describe only the first half of the checkpoint as nearly finished, additional building is still ahead.
What This Means for Your Visit

Disneyland Resort has not announced an opening date for the new checkpoint. In the meantime, guests must continue using the existing screening areas to enter Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure Park, and the Downtown Disney District. With construction ongoing in the Esplanade, leaving a bit of extra time before heading to the gates can help avoid delays.
