Disney World Ends Kids Experience at Hollywood Studios After Four Months
Disney’s Hollywood Studios has never been the easy park for little kids, and that is not a new complaint.
The headliners are thrill rides. Rise of the Resistance, Slinky Dog Dash, Tower of Terror, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, Smugglers Run. Most carry height requirements, and the ones that do not still skew older.
So a Disney Jr. meet and greet added this summer filled a real gap. Small kids finally had a reason to be there built specifically for them, with characters they actually watch rather than characters their parents grew up with.
It is gone.
The Disney Jr. mural along Commissary Lane has been removed, taking with it the meet and greet that hosted Sofia from Sofia the First and Bitsy from SuperKitties.
What Was Found
The area was empty when observed Friday, September 18.
The pink, purple, and orange mural that debuted in May has been painted blue.
Remnants of the bubble design remain visible on the beige wall, along with indents where a sign used to hang.
The spot sits on Commissary Lane near ABC Commissary, next to Red Carpet Dreams.
Disney has not announced a replacement or explained the removal.
What Used to Be There
The setup debuted in May and ran the summer.
Sofia and Bitsy alternated during the day, swapping at different times so guests could meet either depending on when they showed up.
Smart use of a small footprint. One location, two characters, two audiences, and a reason to circle back later if you missed the one you wanted.
Who They Are

Sofia comes from Sofia the First, a 3D animated series that ran on Disney Jr. from January 11, 2013 to September 8, 2018. The pilot aired as a one-hour Disney Channel special in November 2012.
Sofia, voiced by Ariel Winter, is a girl from a commoner background who becomes royalty when her mother marries King Roland II.
The show left the air in December 2018 and returned in reruns in November 2020.
Bitsy is one of the protagonists of SuperKitties, a current Disney Jr. series. Smallest and newest member of the team, wears super speed boots, and records each case on her vlog tablet at the end of every episode.
That pairing hit two audiences at once. Sofia reaches kids who found the show through streaming and reruns. Bitsy reaches kids watching Disney Jr. right now.
Why It Matters
Meet and greets rotate constantly at Disney parks. Most removals are routine.
This one lands differently because of the park.
Hollywood Studios genuinely lacks options for guests under about six. Disney Junior Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! is there. Runaway Railway works for most ages. Toy Story Land helps. Past that, a family with a four-year-old spends the day navigating height requirements.
A dedicated Disney Jr. location solved that directly, for characters kids are actively watching instead of legacy characters they know from merchandise.
Removing it puts the park back where it was in spring.
A Fair Alternative Read
Before assuming the worst, consider the timing.
The Magic of Disney Animation opened at the Walt Disney Studios Lot this month, bringing Off the Page character meets, the Drawn to Wonderland play area for young kids, and an Olaf drawing academy.
That is a serious addition of family capacity in the same park.
Disney may have consolidated character operations rather than running a separate Disney Jr. location alongside a brand new indoor attraction with its own meets.
Speculation. Disney has said nothing. But the timing is close enough to mention rather than framing this purely as a loss.

If you planned around this spot, here is where things stand.
Commissary Lane is empty and repainted. No indication of when or whether anything returns.
Red Carpet Dreams is still next door with its own meet and greets.
Disney Junior Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! still operates.
And the Magic of Disney Animation now offers character encounters across six animation departments plus an indoor play space built for younger kids.
The park still has options for small children. They just moved.
What to Watch
A blue blank wall is not usually how Disney leaves a guest-facing space long term.
Fresh paint plus visible sign mounting points generally means something else is coming, though nothing has been announced and there is no timeline.
For now, Sofia and Bitsy are no longer meeting guests at Hollywood Studios, and a summer addition that worked for young families lasted about four months.
