On select nights, the park operates with just four rides. Eight others become unavailable, removing roughly 67% of the regular ride lineup once nighttime operations begin.
The limited selection continues across multiple dates through November 1. It affects thrill rides, family attractions, and longtime Universal favorites, making daytime planning especially important for anyone hoping to experience more than a handful of rides.
Universal Keeps Just Four Rides Running
Once the reduced nighttime lineup begins, guests can still ride Revenge of the Mummy and TRANSFORMERS: The Ride-3D.
MEN IN BLACK Alien Attack also remains available, along with Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts inside The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley.
That gives visitors four major attractions to choose from. However, the selection looks very different from what guests normally find during regular Universal Studios Florida operations.
The difference becomes even clearer when looking at everything that closes.
Eight Attractions Become Unavailable
The nighttime schedule removes twice as many rides as it keeps open.
Guests won’t have access to:

- Illumination’s Villain-Con Minion Blast
- Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon
- The Simpsons Ride
- Kang & Kodos’ Twirl ‘n’ Hurl
- Trolls Trollercoaster
- E.T. Adventure
- Hogwarts Express
With eight rides unavailable and four remaining, about 67% of the park’s regular ride lineup disappears.
Families may notice the reduction even more, as several lighter attractions and kid-friendly experiences are among the closures.
There is, however, a clear reason Universal operates with such a limited lineup.
Halloween Horror Nights Takes Over the Park
The reduced schedule applies during Halloween Horror Nights.
When Universal Studios Florida transitions into the nighttime event, rides no longer serve as the main focus. Haunted houses, scare zones, themed food, entertainment, and other Halloween offerings take on much larger roles.
Staffing could contribute to the limited ride lineup. Halloween Horror Nights requires employees throughout haunted houses, scare zones, food locations, entertainment areas, crowd-control positions, and other parts of the event.
Space more than likely plays a role, too. Universal uses areas surrounding attractions differently during Halloween Horror Nights, while queues and nearby spaces can support haunted-house operations.
Keeping only certain attractions open allows Universal to operate rides that fit better within the event layout.
And guests will encounter this setup repeatedly before the Halloween season ends.
The Reduced Lineup Continues Through November 1
For guests reading on October 12, Halloween Horror Nights takes place tonight, with several more event stretches still ahead.
The remaining schedule includes October 14-18, followed by Premium Scream Night on October 19. Halloween Horror Nights then returns October 21-25 before finishing with five consecutive nights from October 28 through November 1.
That gives visitors several more evenings when the full Universal Studios Florida ride lineup won’t be available.
Anyone hoping to ride E.T. Adventure, The Simpsons Ride, Trolls Trollercoaster, Hogwarts Express, the Minion attractions, or the other unavailable rides should prioritize them during regular daytime hours.
Once Halloween Horror Nights begins, Universal turns its attention toward the event.
Another Experience Is Already Closed
The nighttime reductions aren’t the only thing affecting Universal Studios Florida this fall.
Universal Orlando’s Horror Make-Up Show is also currently closed while Universal prepares to reimagine the longtime attraction.
Its closure has nothing to do with the Halloween Horror Nights ride schedule, but guests still lose another indoor entertainment option during the day.
Universal plans to bring the show back rather than permanently remove it. The updated version is expected to reopen this winter.
Until then, visitors who normally use the show for a break from rides, crowds, or Florida weather will need another option.
Planning a Universal Trip Matters This Fall
Halloween Horror Nights transforms Universal Studios Florida into a completely different nighttime experience, and the attraction lineup reflects that.
Revenge of the Mummy, Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts, TRANSFORMERS: The Ride-3D, and MEN IN BLACK Alien Attack remain available.
