Families Lose Access to Water at Disneyland Hotel: Vacations to Be Impacted

What Guests Need to Know

Guests checking into Pixar Place Hotel at Disneyland Resort this September are finding one of the property’s most family-focused amenities temporarily out of service. Disney currently lists the hotel’s pool area as closed for refurbishment, with the main pool and spa unavailable through September 19 and Crush’s Surfin’ Slide and the splash pad unavailable through September 25.

The timing matters for families who chose the Pixar-themed hotel partly for its Finding Nemo-inspired rooftop recreation. The closures are temporary, but they restrict some of the hotel’s most prominent warm-weather features.

Pixar Place Hotel Pool Refurbishment Disrupts September Stays

Disney’s official Pixar Place Hotel recreation page says the pool and spa are closed for refurbishment from September 8 through September 19, 2026. The same notice gives Crush’s Surfin’ Slide and the splash pad a longer refurbishment window, running from September 8 through September 25.

Disney’s official pool page currently marks the Pixar Place Hotel pools as closed for refurbishment. Depending on travel dates, a family could spend most or all of its stay without access to the hotel’s signature aquatic recreation.

The closures also arrive during Disneyland Resort’s Halloween season. Inside the Magic has tracked Oogie Boogie Bash’s dwindling ticket inventory and sellout, while hotel guests may encounter an experience that differs from what the property normally advertises.

Finding Nemo Recreation Is a Major Part of the Hotel’s Appeal

Pixar Place Hotel does not treat the pool deck as a generic hotel amenity. Disney promotes the third-floor space as a Finding Nemo-inspired rooftop destination, with the Pixel Pool, the 186-foot Crush’s Surfin’ Slide, Nemo’s Cove for younger children and a whirlpool for adults.

The slide and splash area give children a recreation option outside Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure, including during a midday break.

Disney also promotes Pixar Place Hotel as a family-friendly Pixar experience extending from its guest rooms to its rooftop pool deck. For travelers comparing on-property accommodations, those themed amenities can be part of the decision—not merely an extra once they arrive.

The disruption follows other changes affecting Pixar Place Hotel guests in 2026, including the end of the hotel’s former dedicated Disney California Adventure entrance. Inside the Magic previously covered how Disneyland’s hotel-entry changes altered the morning routine for guests staying at the property.

The Slide and Splash Pad Stay Closed Longer

The most significant date for families with younger children may be September 25. Even after the main pool and spa refurbishment window ends, Disney’s posted schedule keeps Crush’s Surfin’ Slide and the splash pad closed through that date.

That creates two separate reopening timelines. Guests arriving after September 19 should not assume that every feature on the rooftop pool deck will immediately be back in operation.

For children looking forward to the Finding Nemo recreation area, that difference could be substantial. Families traveling before September 26 should check the official recreation page before building a hotel day around it.

The closures also fit a broader pattern of routine refurbishment across Disneyland Resort. Inside the Magic has tracked multiple Disneyland attraction closures in 2026, including maintenance-related downtime that can change what is available during a planned visit.

Disneyland Vacations Can Still Offer Plenty Beyond the Pool

The refurbishment does not mean Pixar Place Hotel itself is closed. Disney continues to list other recreation at the property, including Pixar Shorts Court, where guests can play games inspired by Pixar shorts, along with hotel guest activities and fitness offerings.

The hotel also remains near Disney California Adventure and Downtown Disney District. Its official hotel page highlights Pixar-themed rooms and artwork throughout the property, meaning the Finding Nemo pool deck is only one component of the overall stay.

For guests whose dates are flexible, Disneyland is also promoting fall hotel offers later in 2026. Inside the Magic recently reported on a discount for select Disneyland Resort hotel stays from October 11 through December 18, giving travelers considering a different window another factor to compare.

Elsewhere in the resort, fall visitors should continue checking operational calendars. Disneyland’s refurbishment schedule can shift the mix of available attractions and amenities, and Inside the Magic has reported on other 2026 closures affecting Disneyland Resort.

What Pixar Place Hotel Guests Should Check Before Arrival

For now, Disney’s published dates provide the clearest planning guide: the pool and spa refurbishment runs through September 19, while Crush’s Surfin’ Slide and the splash pad remain unavailable through September 25. Disney also notes that pool hours, slide operating times and lifeguard availability can vary by weather and other conditions.

Guests with September reservations should verify the recreation page shortly before arrival rather than assume every amenity has reopened based solely on the main pool date. Disney has not indicated on the cited pages that these features are being permanently removed; the current status is refurbishment.

That distinction matters. Pixar Place Hotel remains open, but for some September families, the rooftop recreation they expected will not be fully available. Once the posted refurbishment windows pass, the next thing to watch is whether Disney restores each feature on schedule or updates its operating information.

Since first stepping inside the Magic Kingdom at nine years old, I knew I was destined to be a theme Park enthusiast. Although I consider myself a theme Park junkie, I still have much to learn and discover about Disney. Universal Orlando Resort has my heart; being an Annual Passholder means visiting my favorite places on Earth when possible! When I’m not writing about Disney, Universal, or entertainment news, you’ll find me cruising on my motorcycle, hiking throughout my local metro parks, or spending quality time with my girlfriend, family, or friends.
