Did runDisney Make a Huge Mistake With Its 2027 Wine & Dine Graphic?

The 2026 Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend just ended, and runDisney has already revealed the themes for 2027.

The new lineup continues the World Showcase theme, with each race featuring a Disney character in front of an EPCOT pavilion. But some of the pairings have runners scratching their heads.

The 2027 Theme

Disney says the 2027 weekend focuses on World Showcase tastes and tales. The artwork, posted on the runDisney website, shows each character with:

  • An illustrated World Showcase landmark
  • A gold badge showing the race distance
  • Floating food and snacks

Dates, prices, and registration haven’t been announced.

The 2027 Lineup

RaceCharacterPavilion in BackgroundFood Shown
5KAbu (Aladdin)NorwayKebab skewer, tomato slice
10KPinocchioMoroccoTomatoes, mozzarella with basil
Half MarathonElsa (Frozen)ItalyTwo pastries
19.3 MilesSam Eagle (The Muppets)The American AdventureCheeseburger, hot dog

Character details:

  • Abu: Smug grin, flexing one arm, with Norway buildings in plum and cream tones
  • Pinocchio: Smiling in a running pose with his blue bow tie
  • Elsa: Pale blue and white outfit, braid over her shoulder
  • Sam Eagle: Sprinting with a furrowed brow

Since 19.3 miles equals the combined distance of the 10K and half marathon, Sam Eagle appears to represent the 2027 challenge. runDisney hasn’t confirmed this.

Wait, Are Those the Right Pavilions?

Some of the pairings are surprising:

  • Abu is from Aladdin but appears in front of Norway
  • Pinocchio is set in Italy but appears in front of Morocco
  • Elsa is from Frozen, which has ties to Norway, but appears in front of Italy

Only Sam Eagle and The American Adventure seem like a natural match.

It’s not clear if this was a mistake or intentional. Since the theme is described as World Showcase tastes and tales, the mix may be on purpose. Disney hasn’t explained the choices.

How 2026 Compared

None of this year’s characters are returning.

2026 lineup:

  • 5K: The Aristocats (France theme)
  • 10K: The Three Caballeros (Mexico theme)
  • Half Marathon: Mary Poppins
  • Two Course Challenge: Grumpy

In 2026, the 5K and 10K characters lined up neatly with their countries.

The Music Detail Runners Loved

During the 2026 weekend, runners noticed a fun touch:

  • The French-themed 5K played music in French
  • The Mexico-themed 10K played music in Spanish

It made each race feel like a trip through that part of World Showcase.

The big question: Will Disney do the same in 2027? If so, runners could hear music tied to Norway, Morocco, Italy, and the United States. Nothing has been announced.
