Disney World Makes Update To Entire Disney Springs Shopping and Dining District
Souvenir hunters browsing Disney Springs have some new pressed penny designs to track down, as Walt Disney World Resort rolls out next-generation machines featuring fresh artwork inspired by Winnie the Pooh, classic Disney Princesses, and more.
The Shift to Next-Generation Machines
Walt Disney World Resort has spent recent years gradually replacing its older pressed-penny machines across Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, Disney Springs, and the Disney Resort hotels. Unlike the traditional hand-crank machines that flatten coins guests bring themselves, these newer dispensers come equipped with digital screens and already contain blank copper coins ready to be pressed. Guests can pick a single design for $1 in cash, or grab all eight available designs for $5 using either cash or card.
WDWNT reported on September 9 that at least two new machines had recently appeared throughout the Disney Springs shopping, dining, and entertainment district, sharing a photo of the fresh installations on social media.
Disney Princesses Arrive at World of Disney
One new machine can be found inside World of Disney, the resort’s largest merchandise location. Its eight available designs celebrate classic Disney Princesses, featuring Tinker Bell from Peter Pan (1953), Snow White from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937), Cinderella from Cinderella (1950), Belle from Beauty and the Beast (1991), Aurora from Sleeping Beauty (1959), Ariel from The Little Mermaid (1989), Rapunzel from Tangled (2010), and Tiana from The Princess and the Frog (2009).
Unlike many other pressed-penny machines scattered throughout Walt Disney World Resort, this particular dispenser doesn’t tie its design to its specific location, instead sporting a neutral gray-and-black exterior.
Winnie the Pooh Joins the Art Corner
The second new machine sits near the Winnie the Pooh photo-op location beside the Art Corner store in Disney Springs’ Marketplace neighborhood. Each design in this set features at least one character from the Hundred Acre Wood, alongside the Disney Springs logo and a character signature.
Available designs include Eeyore sitting on Tigger’s shoulders; Winnie the Pooh with Piglet; Winnie the Pooh eating “hunny”; Tigger; Piglet riding on Eeyore’s back; Winnie the Pooh alongside Piglet and Eeyore; Rabbit; and Tigger paired with Winnie the Pooh.
