Heads Up, Passholders: This Universal Passholder Perk is Changing
Quick one for anyone heading to Universal Studios Florida this week.
The Annual Passholder store has moved. If you walk to the old spot, you are going to be standing in front of the wrong building.
The Old Spot vs. the New Spot
Old location: the Brown Derby
New location: the former Custom Gear shop, over in the San Francisco area
That is it. That is the change. Same perk, same passholder exclusivity, different address.
The Custom Gear building is the one you have walked past a hundred times on your way through San Francisco without really looking at it. Now it is worth looking at.
The 70% Off Situation
Walk in, and you will see signs. A lot of signs.
Big chunks of the store are marked 70% off, which is steep enough that shoppers have been asking team members whether it is a typo. It is not. Team members have confirmed that the discount comes off the original marked price.
So no math games. No “was $60, now $58, now 70% off that” nonsense. Just the original price with 70% knocked off it.
What They Actually Have
This is the part that makes the walk worth it. The merchandise is not limited to one park. It is pulled from across the entire resort:
- Universal Studios Florida
- Islands of Adventure
- Epic Universe
- Volcano Bay
Epic Universe merch is the big draw here. It has been selling well since the park opened, and finding it discounted in one place beats wandering through five different shops hoping something is on sale.
Volcano Bay stuff shows up too, which is nice because that merchandise gets harder to find once summer wraps up.
And there is a lot of it. This is not a sad clearance corner with three shirts in size XS. The store is stocked.
You Need a Pass to Get In
Worth saying clearly because someone always asks.
Annual Passholders and Universal team members only. Regular park tickets do not work here. If you are traveling with friends who do not have a pass, they cannot shop it on their own.
Bring your pass and your ID, same as any other passholder perk on property.
Go Early
People are already lining up.
Between the discount signs and how fast news travels in passholder groups, this store got popular immediately. Do not plan on a two-minute in-and-out on your way to the parking garage.
Mornings are your friend. Mid-afternoon is when everything at Universal Studios Florida gets crowded, and a discount shop is no exception.
Also, do not do the thing where you see something you like, decide to grab it on the way out, and come back to find it gone. At 70% off, inventory moves.
Update Your Mental Map
Old habit: Brown Derby.
New habit: San Francisco, the old Custom Gear building.
