One of them is the massive gateway that greets visitors before they ever scan a ticket.
Right now, however, that familiar entrance looks much different. Construction equipment has moved into the area, and more of the Universal Studios Florida gateway is disappearing behind scaffolding and large scrims.
The work comes 35 years after the park opened and just as Universal Orlando Resort prepares for one of its busiest events of the year.

The photo gives guests a good idea of just how noticeable the project has become. A large white covering now stands beside and around the familiar Universal Studios Florida entrance signage.
For visitors arriving at the resort, it is difficult to miss.
Universal has not announced through the information provided that the entrance is being replaced or permanently redesigned. For now, the visible work shows scaffolding and scrims surrounding portions of the structure.
Even so, seeing construction take over such a recognizable part of Universal Studios Florida is bound to catch longtime fans’ attention.

Universal Studios Florida opened on June 7, 1990, beginning what would eventually become the much larger Universal Orlando Resort.
The park has gone through enormous changes since then.
Entire attractions have disappeared, new franchises have arrived, and sections of the park have been reinvented for different generations of guests. The Universal Studios Florida of today looks very different from the park visitors experienced during the 1990s.
The entrance, however, continues to serve the same basic purpose.
It is the moment when guests leave the larger CityWalk area behind and officially enter Universal Studios Florida. It is also a popular place to stop for pictures, particularly for first-time visitors or families returning after several years away.
That’s why the current construction is so noticeable.
It isn’t happening somewhere tucked behind an attraction. It is taking place directly around a landmark virtually every Universal Studios Florida guest sees.
Halloween Horror Nights Is Days Away
The timing adds another layer to the project because Halloween Horror Nights 2026 begins August 28.
Universal Studios Florida will soon transform each night as thousands of Halloween Horror Nights guests arrive for haunted houses, scare zones, entertainment, and other seasonal offerings.
That means the construction-covered gateway will be one of the first sights many Halloween Horror Nights visitors encounter.
For longtime fans, walking through the entrance after dark has become part of the annual tradition. Crowds gather outside, Halloween Horror Nights signage appears around the resort, and guests wait to see what Universal has prepared inside.
This year, the familiar arrival experience will look a little different while work continues.
Universal Orlando Has Entered a New Era
The construction also comes during a major period for Universal Orlando Resort.
Epic Universe opened in May 2025, dramatically expanding the destination and giving guests another major Universal theme park to explore.
Despite all the attention surrounding Universal’s newest park, Universal Studios Florida remains an important part of the resort. It is where Universal’s Orlando theme park story began, and the park continues evolving more than three decades later.
The current gateway project is another visible example of Universal continuing to work on its existing properties while operating its newest destination.
