Marvel Surprises Fans With New ‘Endgame’ Trailer, Kevin Feige Teases Doctor Doom Tie-In

Marvel just gave fans another reason to revisit one of the MCU’s biggest movies before its next Avengers event arrives.

A new trailer for the theatrical return of Avengers: Endgame (2019) is here, and this isn’t being presented as a simple re-release. New footage, a special look at Avengers: Doomsday (2026), and comments from Kevin Feige suggest there could be a much bigger reason Marvel wants fans thinking about Endgame again.

One line in the trailer makes that possibility especially interesting.

Endgame Is Heading Back to Theaters With Something New

Marvel Studios will bring Avengers: Endgame (2019) back to theaters on September 25 for a special Encore presentation.

The Russo brothers first revealed plans for the re-release at CinemaCon, confirming that fans wouldn’t simply be getting the same movie they watched in 2019. The presentation will feature brand-new footage along with an exclusive look at Avengers: Doomsday (2026).

That movie arrives in theaters on December 18, meaning the Endgame return comes less than three months before Marvel’s next Avengers blockbuster.

The timing makes the Encore presentation particularly interesting. Marvel is giving audiences a chance to revisit the movie that closed out the Infinity Saga just before Doctor Doom takes center stage.

Kevin Feige has also made it clear there is more to see.

Kevin Feige Says Fans Should Expect “Surprises”

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has teased that the Encore presentation will contain a few “surprises.”

He’s also drawn a direct connection between Marvel’s past and what comes next.

Feige said Doomsday (2026) will pick up where Endgame (2019) ended, “but also go back to when it all started with X-Men.”

That opens plenty of possibilities. Endgame dramatically changed the MCU, particularly through its use of time travel. The latest trailer draws attention to that part of the story in a way that could become important.

Tony Stark’s Warning Gets Another Moment

During the trailer, Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark delivers a familiar warning.

“You mess with time,” Iron Man says.

The footage then moves through several moments, including Steve Rogers’ Captain America fighting another version of himself. Tony finishes the thought with, “time tends to mess back.”

Fans already know exactly how heavily Endgame (2019) relied on changing the past. But Steve Rogers ultimately took that concept further than anyone expected.

After traveling back to return the Infinity Stones, Steve didn’t immediately come home. He stayed in the past and lived a life with Peggy Carter. Decades later, an elderly Steve appeared and handed his shield to Sam Wilson.

At the time, it served as an emotional conclusion for Captain America. Heading into Doomsday (2026), it may deserve another look.

Steve Rogers’ Choice Could Come Back Into Play

Chris Evans has now appeared as Steve Rogers in footage from Doomsday (2026), bringing the character back into Marvel’s biggest story.

That makes the new Endgame trailer’s focus on time particularly intriguing.

Could Steve’s decision to remain in the past have consequences nobody understood at the time?

Marvel hasn’t said that’s what happened, and there’s no confirmation that Steve caused the problems coming in Doomsday. But Doctor Doom’s own words make the theory worth considering.

Robert Downey Jr.’s Doom tells the heroes, “All of you have lived stolen lives. Now you must give them back.”

Combined with Tony’s warning about time fighting back, that line raises questions about what Doom considers a “stolen” life and whether altered timelines could factor into his mission.

Doomsday Will Bring Marvel’s Biggest Heroes Together

Fans won’t have to wait much longer for answers.

Avengers: Doomsday (2026) opens December 18 with Joe and Anthony Russo directing. Robert Downey Jr. plays Victor von Doom, while Chris Evans returns as Steve Rogers.

Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Florence Pugh, Paul Rudd, Tom Hiddleston, Sebastian Stan, Simu Liu, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, and James Marsden are also among the massive cast.

Marvel has confirmed that heroes from three universes will collide, bringing together the Avengers, Fantastic Four, and familiar X-Men characters.

The story will then continue with Avengers: Secret Wars (2027), directed by the Russos and scheduled for December 17, 2027.

Marvel May Be Pointing Fans Back for a Reason

Avengers: Endgame (2019) once seemed to close the book on Marvel’s original Avengers era.

Tony died. Steve chose his life with Peggy. The MCU moved forward.

Seven years later, Marvel is sending audiences back to that exact story while preparing for Doctor Doom’s arrival.

Maybe Tony’s warning about time was simply the perfect line for this trailer. Or maybe Marvel wants fans thinking about what Steve changed by choosing to stay behind.

Either way, Endgame suddenly feels relevant again.
