Disney Finally Confirms Return of Popular Disneyland Halloween Activity
August starts in a matter of days. You know what that means. Halloween Time at Disneyland Resort is inching closer, and for a lot of fans, it is the best stretch of the entire year. Pumpkins on Main Street, U.S.A.. Cars Land flipped into Haunted Slide. Jack Skellington
is taking over the Haunted Mansion. Halloween Screams lighting up the sky over the castle.
Passholders who vanish during the summer heat suddenly show up three times a week once the decorations go up. That is how much the season means to people.
The catch is that everybody else feels the same way. Crowds swell. Seasonal favorites build long lines. The good viewing spots for nighttime shows get claimed hours in advance.
So here is some genuinely useful news for anyone with a fall trip on the books.
Disney’s Happiest Haunts Guided Tour is coming back on August 21, 2026.
What You Get
Two hours. A guided walking tour through both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park, with both parks fully decorated for the season.
A Tour Guide leads it, sharing Halloween history and Disney-inspired tales along the way. That storytelling is the heart of it, and it is why people book this thing repeatedly.
Then there are the perks:
Lightning Lane entry to Haunted Mansion Holiday. That overlay routinely posts some of the longest waits in Disneyland Park all fall.
Access to the reserved viewing area for Halloween Screams. Note that only guests with a park reservation, valid admission, and a valid tour reservation get into that area.
A themed treat, the Happiest Haunts Dirt Worm Crispie.
A commemorative Happiest Haunts Guided Tour key to take home.
If you have ever burned an hour standing on Main Street, U.S.A., holding a spot, those two access perks are the whole pitch.
Price and Booking Date
$130 per person, tax not included.
Booking opens July 30, 2026, subject to availability. Reservations are available up to 60 days in advance through the Disneyland website or the Disneyland app. Disney strongly recommends booking in advance, though same-day spots and walk-ins may be available. Ask a cast member at check-in.
One money-saver: Disney Visa Cardmembers get 15 percent off by signing into their MyDisney account on the website or app and paying with their Disney Visa Card.
What the $130 Does Not Cover at Disneyland
This is where people get caught.
Park admission and a Disneyland Park reservation for the same date as the tour are required for every guest ages 3 and up. Neither is included in the tour price.
Park reservations are limited and not guaranteed, so handle that at the same time you book the tour, not after.
Guests ages 2 and under attend at no charge.
The Fine Print
Check in at Tour Gardens on Main Street, U.S.A., 15 minutes before your reservation time. Everyone in your party has to be there.
Bring your reservation confirmation, photo ID, and the credit card you used to book. Show up late, and you may not get to join, so leave buffer time if you are coming from elsewhere on the property.
Anyone under 14 must be accompanied by an adult 18 or older for the entire tour.
Payment is taken in full at the time of booking. There is a 24-hour cancellation policy. Cancel within that window or no-show, and the full price will be charged and forfeited. The experience is nonrefundable.
Who Should Book It
Anyone who wants a big Halloween Time day without getting lost in the lines.
The Haunted Mansion Holiday Lightning Lane and the reserved Halloween Screams area knock out the two biggest time drains of a fall night at Disneyland Park. The guided storytelling is the bonus on top.
It is also a good fit if you have done Halloween Time plenty of times and want a fresh angle. The history and ghost stories give you something new in parks you already know well.
Two Dates to Remember at Disneyland
July 30, booking opens. August 21, the tour begins.
Between the 60-day window and limited park reservations, early planners will have the smoothest time here. If a Halloween Time trip is already in the works, knock out the tour, the tickets, and the park reservation in one sitting.
