Plenty of guests spend weeks planning attractions, dining reservations, and show schedules, yet many give little thought to what they’re actually carrying into the parks.

Universal Orlando does not permit guests to bring glass bottles or other glass containers into its parks. While they may seem harmless, glass can break easily, creating hazards in crowded areas where thousands of people walk every hour. Cleaning up shattered glass in attraction queues, restaurants, or busy pathways also takes time and can affect nearby guests.
There is one important exception for families traveling with infants. Universal allows glass baby food jars, recognizing that parents may need them during their visit.
For everyone else, reusable bottles made from plastic or metal offer a much better alternative. They provide the same convenience without creating problems during security screening.
Powered Devices Stay Outside
Transportation devices are another area where guests occasionally run into unexpected restrictions.
Universal Orlando Resort allows approved mobility equipment, including powered wheelchairs and Electric Convenience Vehicles (ECVs), so guests who need accessibility assistance can comfortably experience the parks.
Recreational powered devices are treated differently, however. Guests cannot bring hoverboards, Segways, electric bicycles, or radio-controlled vehicles into the theme parks or Universal CityWalk.
These devices have become increasingly common in everyday life, but they aren’t permitted inside the resort’s busy walkways. With large crowds moving through the parks from morning until night, Universal limits these items to help keep pedestrian traffic moving safely.

Hard-Sided Coolers Won’t Make It Through the Gates
Many families like bringing snacks and drinks for a full day in the parks, especially when traveling with children. While that’s perfectly reasonable, the cooler itself can become an issue.
Universal Orlando does not allow hard-sided coolers inside its parks. Instead, guests should use soft-sided bags if they plan to carry approved food or beverages.
Hard coolers can be bulky and difficult to manage in crowded queues, restaurants, and walkways. They also require more space during security inspections and throughout the day as guests move from attraction to attraction.
Soft coolers provide a more practical solution while still allowing visitors to carry bottled water, snacks, and other approved items. Choosing the right bag before leaving your hotel can help avoid unnecessary delays at the security checkpoint.
Your Outfit Matters Too
Security screening doesn’t stop with backpacks. Universal Orlando Resort also enforces a dress code that guests should keep in mind before arriving.
The resort generally does not allow face coverings that completely conceal a guest’s identity unless they’re medically necessary or otherwise approved. Certain costume pieces, including veils or outfits with long trains, can also pose problems by interfering with safe movement in crowded areas.
Guests should also make sure their clothing provides appropriate coverage throughout the day. Apparel featuring explicit graphics or language may violate the resort’s standards, and outfits with excessive exposure can also result in guests being asked to change before entering.
Anyone attending a special event should review any additional costume requirements in advance, as these guidelines may differ from the resort’s standard dress code.
A Quick Bag Check Can Save Time Later
Most visitors move through Universal Orlando’s security process without any issues, and a little preparation goes a long way toward keeping it that way.
Taking a few minutes to review the resort’s prohibited items before leaving for the parks can prevent unexpected delays and eliminate the frustration of having to return prohibited belongings to your vehicle.
Glass bottles, recreational powered vehicles, hard-sided coolers, and clothing that falls outside Universal’s guidelines are all items that can cause problems at the entrance if guests aren’t aware of the rules in advance.
