Universal Orlando Resort continues adding fresh experiences to Epic Universe, even as the park remains one of the destination’s most popular attractions. Since opening, guests have flocked to its immersive lands, standout rides, and richly themed environments, making it a favorite for theme park fans.
Although plenty of attention remains focused on what Universal may build next, the company is also enhancing the park with smaller additions guests can enjoy right now. The latest update takes visitors back to Dark Universe, where a new interactive experience lets fans celebrate some of Universal’s most legendary movie monsters.
Epic Universe Gives Guests Five Unique Worlds to Explore
Epic Universe separates its experiences into five themed lands, each offering its own attractions, entertainment, dining, and atmosphere.
Celestial Park sits at the center of the park and connects guests to every portal. From there, visitors can enter The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic, SUPER NINTENDO WORLD, How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk, or Dark Universe.
Each area tells its own story. Some guests spend the day exploring the magical streets of Paris, while others race through Berk or jump into Nintendo-inspired adventures. Meanwhile, Dark Universe transports visitors to the haunted village of Darkmoor, where Universal’s legendary monsters take center stage.
The land has earned plenty of attention thanks to its detailed setting, roaming characters, themed food, and Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment, which remains one of Epic Universe’s signature attractions.

Universal Left Plenty of Room for the Future
Although Epic Universe is still one of Universal’s newest parks, the company never intended for the opening-day lineup to be the final version.
The resort designed the park with future growth in mind, setting aside several areas to accommodate additional attractions and experiences over time. That approach allows Universal to keep investing in Epic Universe without dramatically changing its existing layout.
While fans continue speculating about what those future projects could include, Universal is also enhancing the experiences guests can enjoy right now. Dark Universe has become the latest land to receive an additional offering.

A New Dark Universe Experience
The Darkmoor Monster Makeup Experience now gives guests another way to embrace the world of Universal’s classic monsters.
In addition to face makeup, visitors can now purchase temporary monster-themed tattoos featuring some of the franchise’s most recognizable characters.
Universal describes the offering this way:
“Choose from a unique, temporary tattoo or face makeup experience. Become the Universal Monsters you love: Dracula, Frankenstein’s Monster, the Bride of Frankenstein, The Wolf Man, The Creature from the Black Lagoon and more. Ages 5+.”
The experience costs $45 per person, plus tax.
For guests who want to join the atmosphere without full monster makeup, the tattoos provide another option. They also give younger visitors and families an easy way to participate as they explore the streets of Darkmoor.
It’s a relatively small addition, but it fits naturally into the land’s immersive design and offers guests another souvenir that goes beyond traditional merchandise.

Expansion Rumors Continue Surrounding Dark Universe
The new tattoo option isn’t the only reason Dark Universe remains a topic of conversation.
Universal has also filed paperwork connected to a large project within the land. According to the filing, the proposed development spans roughly 71,500 square feet, though the documents do not reveal what Universal plans to build.
That lack of detail has fueled speculation throughout the theme park community.
Many fans have pointed to early concept artwork that appeared to show a large enclosed building that never became part of Epic Universe’s opening lineup. Because of that, some believe Universal could eventually revisit those earlier ideas.
Among the most common theories is a dark ride centered on The Creature from the Black Lagoon. Since the character already appears throughout Dark Universe, many fans believe the monster could naturally anchor another major attraction if Universal moves forward with an expansion.
For now, though, Universal has not confirmed what the project will become or announced a construction timeline.

Dark Universe Continues Building on Its Opening Success
Epic Universe continues evolving, even as guests are still discovering everything the park already offers.
The addition of temporary monster tattoos gives visitors another interactive experience inside Dark Universe while reinforcing the land’s focus on Universal’s classic horror icons. Combined with ongoing speculation surrounding the large expansion permit, the latest update gives fans another reason to keep watching what happens next.
Whether Universal eventually unveils another major attraction or introduces even more immersive offerings, Dark Universe appears well-positioned to remain one of Epic Universe’s fastest-growing and most closely watched lands.
