Disney World Refreshes Woody, Buzz, and Jessie After Toy Story 5 Release
Guests visiting Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios have a new reason to stop for a character photo. Disney has officially updated Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and Jessie with brand-new accessories inspired by Toy Story 5 (2026), bringing the latest chapter of Pixar’s iconic franchise into the parks.

The refresh comes shortly after the movie’s theatrical release and gives fans a chance to see the beloved toys in appearances that reflect where their story has gone since the previous films. While the updates aren’t dramatic, they’re filled with details that longtime Toy Story fans are likely to recognize immediately.
Woody’s most noticeable change is a poncho made from a human bandanna. It’s a fresh addition to his classic cowboy outfit without changing the character guests have known for decades. Jessie also sports an important new accessory. She now wears the sheriff badge Woody passed on to her at the conclusion of Toy Story 4 (2019), acknowledging one of the franchise’s biggest emotional moments.

Buzz Lightyear’s update is smaller but still meaningful. The Space Ranger now wears a shiny star sticker on the front of his suit, giving his familiar costume a new detail inspired by the latest film.
Guests won’t have to learn new meet-and-greet locations to see the updated trio. Woody and Jessie continue greeting visitors together outside Toy Story Mania, while Buzz remains near the entrance to Toy Story Land.
Although these costume changes have just arrived in Florida, they actually debuted several weeks earlier at Disney California Adventure. With Walt Disney World now receiving the same updates, Disney has created a consistent experience for Toy Story fans on both coasts.
The timing also reflects Disney’s ongoing effort to connect its parks with its newest theatrical releases. Character meet-and-greets are one of the easiest ways to celebrate a new movie without introducing an entirely new attraction. Returning guests immediately notice something different, while first-time visitors still enjoy meeting the same characters they know from the films.

The update also creates an interesting contrast with Toy Story Land’s setting. The land itself still imagines guests as toys exploring Andy’s backyard, complete with giant building blocks and oversized toys. However, the movies have moved well beyond Andy’s childhood. By Toy Story 5 (2026), Woody, Buzz, Jessie, and the rest of the gang have long since become Bonnie’s toys.
Rather than redesigning the entire land, Disney has allowed its characters to evolve with the franchise while keeping Toy Story Land’s original environment intact. It’s a subtle storytelling decision that helps bridge the gap between the classic setting and the newest movie.
For Pixar fans planning a visit to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, these refreshed costumes add another fun detail to discover. They may not completely transform the meet-and-greet experience, but they offer a reminder that the Toy Story story continues to grow, both on the big screen and inside Disney’s parks.
