Fantasyland and Frontierland Areas Closed for Refurbishment at Disneyland
Two Disneyland Park attractions in two different lands closed simultaneously on Monday. Here’s what Southern California Disney Park guests need to know.
King Arthur Carrousel Surrounded by Royal Barriers

The King Arthur Carrousel went offline for refurbishment on July 6, with construction walls appearing around the iconic Fantasyland attraction almost immediately. WDW News Today shared a photo of the enclosed carrousel, documenting how Disneyland Resort has handled the visual disruption.
Royalty-themed pennants decorate the barriers in the area behind the Sword in the Stone, and a banner mounted on the beige construction walls delivers the park’s official message in suitably medieval fashion:
“A Proclamation
Hear ye, Hear ye!
All who come to this place shall… Pardon our Pixie Dust.
By Decree of The Royal Court”

Disneyland Resort’s official website lists July 17 as the scheduled reopening date for the King Arthur Carrousel. Still, that timeline could shift as the work progresses.
Frontierland Loses Its Shooting Gallery

The Frontierland Shootin’ Exposition also closed on July 6, with plywood construction walls going up around the interactive shooting gallery and signage informing guests of the closure. Disneyland Resort’s official attraction webpage currently shows no operating hours for the experience through August 17, 2026, and directs guests to check back for updates.

Since the Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade at Magic Kingdom Park permanently closed on June 23, 2024, the Frontierland Shootin’ Exposition at Disneyland Park has been the only functional shooting gallery attraction at any Disney park in the United States. As of Monday, that distinction is temporarily on hold, and it’s unclear when that will change.
