Epic Universe Finally Comes Alive After Dark Beginning This Week

Epic Universe has spent the past year giving guests plenty to talk about. From cutting-edge attractions to incredibly detailed lands, Universal Orlando Resort’s newest theme park has quickly become one of the most popular destinations in Central Florida.

This week, however, visitors will have one more reason to keep their vacation plans open late into the evening.

Beginning July 7, Universal officially launches Universal Celestial Goodnight, the park’s first permanent nighttime spectacular. The new production transforms Celestial Park into the centerpiece of Epic Universe each night with synchronized fountains, colorful lighting, original music, and a fireworks finale inspired by the park’s themed worlds.

If you’re visiting this week or later this summer, don’t make the mistake of leaving after your final ride.

A New Way to End the Day

Since Epic Universe opened in 2025, guests have spent most of their time rushing between attractions like Stardust Racers, Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry, Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment, and Mine-Cart Madness.

Once those experiences were finished, many visitors simply headed toward the exit.

Universal is hoping to change that habit.

Universal Celestial Goodnight gives guests a reason to slow down, find a spot around Celestial Park, and enjoy one final experience before leaving the park. The nighttime spectacular celebrates every corner of Epic Universe, featuring moments inspired by SUPER NINTENDO WORLD, How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic, and Dark Universe before ending with fireworks overhead.

The addition brings Epic Universe more in line with other major Orlando theme parks that have become known for their nighttime entertainment.

More Than Just Fireworks

Universal isn’t simply launching a brief fireworks display.

The company says the show uses nearly 600 synchronized lighting fixtures, more than 350 fountains, and approximately seven million LED lights throughout Celestial Park. Combined with music and pyrotechnics, the production is designed to become one of the park’s signature experiences.

Fans have actually expected something like this for quite some time.

Even before Epic Universe opened, concept artwork frequently showed fireworks exploding above Celestial Park. As construction wrapped up, guests also noticed what appeared to be infrastructure designed for nighttime entertainment.

During the past year, Universal hired fireworks technicians and continued adding equipment around the lagoon, making it increasingly clear that something larger was in development.

Now, opening week has finally arrived.

Plan Your Evening Accordingly

The new show could easily become one of the busiest parts of the day at Epic Universe.

Guests planning to watch the performance should expect viewing areas around Celestial Park to fill well before showtime, especially during opening week and throughout the busy summer travel season.

Instead of squeezing in one last attraction before park close, many visitors may want to grab dinner, browse the shops, or simply enjoy the atmosphere while waiting for the show to begin.

For anyone making their first visit to Epic Universe, Universal Celestial Goodnight offers a fitting conclusion to a day filled with immersive attractions and themed lands. Beginning this week, staying until closing may become one of the best decisions you make during your vacation.
