Pokémon Is Coming to LEGOLAND Florida This Summer, and It’s Bigger Than You Think
If you’re spending time in the Orlando area this summer and have a Pokémon fan in your group, here’s something worth knowing about. LEGOLAND Florida Resort, which is only about 35 miles from Walt Disney World, just announced that LEGO Pokémon is headlining this year’s LEGO Festival, and the timing makes it genuinely exciting for fans of the franchise.
The festival runs July 20 through August 16, 2026, and is included with regular park admission, so there’s no extra ticket to buy.
The Big Draw This Year
The headline attraction is a brand new LEGO Pokémon Play Zone, and here’s why it’s a bigger deal than a typical theme park event. Guests visiting LEGOLAND Florida during the festival will get an exclusive first look at the upcoming LEGO Pokémon SMART Play system weeks before it officially launches in stores in August.
That means if you visit between July 20 and August 16, you’ll be among the first people in the world to experience this new toy line before it’s available anywhere else. For Pokémon fans who have been waiting on this launch, that’s a pretty compelling reason to make the drive down Interstate 4.

What You Can Actually Do There
The LEGO Pokémon Play Zone is set up as a complete Trainer journey, not just a display of upcoming sets. Guests enter the LEGO Pokémon Trainer Center and work through themed activity areas focused on five different Pokémon.
Here’s a quick look at what’s inside. In the Nurture Area, you can build a snack for your Pokémon and place it on a SMART-enabled activity table to see how it reacts. Other activities include building and displaying a LEGO Poké Ball, working through interactive training stations, participating in brick-built battle experiences, and engaging in hands-on creative building.
There’s also a giant LEGO Pikachu model making its debut at the festival, which is set up specifically for photos. The whole experience is completely screen-free and designed for a wide range of ages, from younger kids discovering Pokémon for the first time to older fans who grew up with the franchise.
What the SMART Play System Actually Is
If you haven’t heard of it yet, the LEGO Pokémon SMART Play system is a new platform from the LEGO Group designed to make building more interactive. Instead of just constructing a set and putting it on a shelf, SMART Play encourages ongoing creative play, movement, and social experiences after the build is complete. The festival is one of the first major public showcases of this new system, which makes LEGOLAND Florida’s timing pretty significant.
Why This Is Worth a Day Trip
LEGOLAND Florida tends to fly under the radar for families visiting the Orlando area, but at just 35 miles and about 52 minutes from Walt Disney World, it’s genuinely close enough for a day trip. The park skews toward younger kids, crowds tend to be lighter than the bigger parks, and admission is typically more affordable.
Adding a limited-time Pokémon experience with a genuine first-in-the-world hook makes this summer a particularly good time to check it out. The festival runs through August 16, so there’s a decent window to fit it in if you’re in the area.
