Walt Disney World Goes All Out for America’s 250th Birthday Celebration

If you’re visiting Walt Disney World during the Fourth of July weekend, you’ll have plenty to keep you busy beyond the attractions. Disney is celebrating America’s 250th birthday with returning entertainment, patriotic performances, seasonal snacks, and exclusive merchandise spread across the resort. Whether you’re planning to spend all day inside the parks or hop between resorts and Disney Springs, the holiday offers something special around nearly every corner.

Here’s everything guests can look forward to during this year’s Independence Day celebration.

Fireworks Take Center Stage

The biggest draw is once again Magic Kingdom’s annual Disney’s Celebrate America! – A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky. Instead of the usual Happily Ever After, guests visiting on July 3, 4, or 5 will be treated to Disney’s patriotic fireworks spectacular beginning at 9:00 p.m.

The extra performance on July 5 gives visitors another chance to experience the holiday show even after Independence Day has passed, helping spread out some of the holiday crowds.

EPCOT is also extending its celebration over three nights. After Luminous: The Symphony of Us concludes, the park will once again launch the fan-favorite Heartbeat of Freedom finale. The additional fireworks have become a tradition for many Disney fans who make EPCOT part of their holiday plans.

Patriotic Entertainment Throughout the Parks

The celebration starts long before sunset.

At Magic Kingdom, Main Street, U.S.A. comes alive with patriotic decorations and live performances throughout the day. Guests can watch the daily Flag Retreat Ceremony, hear the Main Street Philharmonic perform patriotic favorites, and enjoy appearances from the Dapper Dans wearing their holiday attire.

EPCOT also leans into the celebration with Voices of Liberty performances inside The American Adventure pavilion, while Spaceship Earth glows with patriotic lighting each evening. Disney has also teased special character appearances that traditionally include Mickey Mouse and friends dressed in their patriotic costumes.

A Holiday Attraction Worth Experiencing

One attraction fits perfectly with the Fourth of July celebration.

Soarin’ Across America continues its limited return at EPCOT, giving guests the opportunity to fly over famous landmarks across the United States instead of the attraction’s worldwide version. It’s a fitting experience for the holiday and one many longtime Disney fans have been excited to see return.

Food, Shopping, and More

The holiday fun extends well beyond rides and entertainment.

Disney is offering a wide selection of limited-time desserts throughout the parks, Disney Springs, and Disney Resort hotels. From colorful cupcakes and cheesecake to shakes, chocolate treats, and specialty desserts, there are plenty of festive options for guests hoping to celebrate with something sweet.

Collectors can also browse limited-time Fourth of July merchandise, including Sam Eagle-inspired items and the popular Sam Eagle popcorn bucket while supplies last.

Disney Springs and the Resorts Join In

Guests without park tickets can still enjoy part of the celebration.

Disney Springs will feature patriotic decorations along with performances by the United States Air Force Band of the West on July 3 and 4, making it a great evening destination for shopping, dining, and live music.

Several Disney Resort hotels are also expected to host their own holiday activities throughout the weekend, giving overnight guests even more ways to celebrate after leaving the parks.

A Weekend Filled With Holiday Traditions

Between two nighttime spectaculars, patriotic performances, seasonal food, limited-time merchandise, and special events throughout Walt Disney World, guests will have no shortage of ways to celebrate Independence Day. Whether you’re ending your evening beneath fireworks at Magic Kingdom or watching the finale at EPCOT, this year’s celebration offers plenty of opportunities to make the holiday memorable.
