Magic Kingdom Invents a New Look for Walt Disney’s Main Street, U.S.A.

The storefront windows along Main Street, U.S.A., at Magic Kingdom Park received a final patriotic flourish this week. The finishing touch connects the beloved thoroughfare to one of The Walt Disney Company’s biggest celebrations in decades.

On Monday, WDWNT reported that Walt Disney World Resort had added golden “Disney Celebrates America” decals to the already-decorated window displays on The Emporium facade along Main Street, U.S.A. The windows had been dressed in red, white, and blue earlier this month, featuring figures of Mickey and Minnie Mouse as part of the park’s patriotic seasonal look. The new gold lettering sits beneath those character images, tying the display directly into The Walt Disney Company’s nationwide commemoration of the United States’ 250th anniversary.

“Disney Celebrates America” is the name The Walt Disney Company has given to its semiquincentennial programming — a multi-platform event that extends well beyond theme park window dressing. ABC will broadcast the two-hour Disney Celebrates America: The Pursuit of Happiness special on June 29, with 20/20 co-anchor Deborah Roberts reporting from Walt Disney World Resort and national correspondent Will Reeve filing from Disneyland Resort. The network will then expand to 24 hours of American history programming across multiple platforms on July 3 and 4.

What Guests Can Experience at the Parks

The most visible elements of the celebration for theme park guests arrive in early July. Magic Kingdom Park will present “Disney’s Celebrate America! – A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky,” a special fireworks show running on July 3, 4, and 5. EPCOT will add a “Heartbeat of Freedom” show following the Luminous The Symphony of Us nighttime spectacular on those same three evenings.

Limited-time patriotic food, beverage, and merchandise offerings are currently available across both Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort, and the Soarin’ Across America attraction overlay — updated specifically for the 250th anniversary — is already running at both parks.
