Disney Announces France Pavilion Closure at EPCOT After Nearly Two Decades

Another EPCOT location has gone behind closed doors, and this time the closure affects one of the France Pavilion’s longtime boutique experiences.

La Signature, the fragrance and cosmetics shop located in World Showcase, has officially closed for refurbishment. The current version of the store opened on July 26, 2007, after Disney remodeled the location into a Haute Perfumery. Now, nearly two decades later, Disney is giving the space some attention.

La Signature Has Been Part of the France Pavilion for Years

World Showcase works best when guests feel like they are wandering through real cultural spaces, not just themed storefronts. That is one reason La Signature has always fit so well inside the France Pavilion.

The shop offered a more polished, elegant shopping experience than many guests expect inside a theme park. Instead of focusing on standard souvenirs, La Signature specialized in French fragrance, cosmetics, and beauty products. Guerlain products were a major part of the shop’s identity, and guests could also find makeup consultations and other luxury beauty offerings.

That gave La Signature a unique purpose. It was not the place guests rushed into for a quick snack or festival item. It was the kind of shop people wandered into slowly, often while exploring the quieter corners of the pavilion.

For Disney fans who appreciate EPCOT’s original World Showcase spirit, that matters.

The Store Is Now Closed for Refurbishment

Disney closed La Signature on June 29, and the location is now unavailable to guests.

The storefront windows have been blacked out, which keeps guests from seeing what is happening inside. That does not automatically mean Disney is completely changing the location, but it does suggest that work is happening beyond a simple overnight refresh.

At this time, Disney has not announced an exact reopening date. The store is expected to reopen later in 2026.

That leaves some uncertainty for guests visiting EPCOT over the next several months. Anyone hoping to stop inside La Signature during an upcoming trip will need to adjust their plans.

Some Merchandise Has Moved Nearby

There is some good news for guests who enjoy shopping for French beauty products.

While La Signature is closed, some Guerlain merchandise has been moved to Plume et Palette in the France Pavilion. The temporary selection may not be exactly the same as what guests normally find inside La Signature, but it gives shoppers another option while the refurbishment continues.

That move also helps Disney keep part of the boutique’s identity alive during the closure. Guests may not be able to step inside the original space right now, but they can still find some of the products that made it popular.

For a pavilion built around atmosphere and discovery, that kind of continuity helps.

EPCOT’s France Pavilion Keeps Changing

The France Pavilion has become one of EPCOT’s most layered areas.

On one side, it still has the charm that longtime fans associate with World Showcase: architecture, dining, gardens, small shops, and atmospheric details. On the other side, it has become a much busier destination thanks to the addition of Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and the expanded area inspired by Ratatouille (2007).

That expansion brought new energy to the pavilion. It also changed how guests use the space. Families now head deeper into the pavilion for the ride, while food fans continue visiting Les Halles Boulangerie-Patisserie, L’Artisan des Glaces, Chefs de France, and Monsieur Paul.

In that mix, La Signature served a quieter purpose. It gave adults and fragrance fans a more refined stop that felt distinct from the pavilion’s bigger draws.

That is why this closure will stand out to regular EPCOT visitors, even though it does not involve a ride or restaurant.

Why Disney May Be Refreshing the Space Now

After nearly 19 years, a refurbishment is not surprising.

Theme park retail locations deal with heavy foot traffic, constant product movement, changing design expectations, and everyday wear. Even elegant spaces eventually need updates, especially in a park that has undergone as much change as EPCOT.

Disney may simply be refreshing the boutique’s interior. It could also be updating displays, lighting, counters, flooring, or guest flow. Since the company has not shared specifics, it is too early to say exactly what will change.

Still, the timing makes sense. EPCOT has spent years modernizing large sections of the park, and smaller projects like this help keep individual pavilions feeling cared for.

What Guests Should Expect Next

For now, guests should plan for La Signature to remain closed until Disney confirms a reopening date.

Visitors who want Guerlain products should check Plume et Palette during the refurbishment. Everyone else will have to wait and see what Disney reveals when the shop reopens later in 2026.

The closure may not be the biggest EPCOT news of the year, but it does mark a meaningful pause for a France Pavilion location that has been part of the park’s shopping lineup since 2007.

After nearly two decades, La Signature is getting a refresh. The question now is whether Disney brings back the boutique guests remember or introduces a noticeably updated version for EPCOT’s next era.
