Disney Releases Second Response Following Child Attraction Fall
Disneyland fans have been waiting for answers since a frightening incident at Tiana’s Bayou Adventure over the weekend, and now a new update is shedding light on what happened inside one of the resort’s most popular attractions.

The story first exploded online Sunday evening when guests began sharing reports from inside Disneyland Park about a major emergency response near Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Witnesses described seeing security personnel, medical teams, and a lengthy attraction closure following what many believed was a serious incident involving a young guest.
While social media quickly filled in the blanks with theories and secondhand accounts, Disney remained largely silent until issuing an official statement confirming that a 13-year-old guest had exited a ride vehicle before the attraction concluded.
Now, thanks to additional reporting from Scott Gustin, Disney fans finally have a better understanding of where the incident occurred and why the attraction was able to reopen less than a day later.
Most importantly, the young guest involved was treated at a hospital and later released.
Disney Confirms Incident Happened Near Tiana’s Bayou Adventure’s Biggest Drop

One of the most discussed aspects of the incident was the location.
Guests online had speculated that the child left the attraction near the ride’s dramatic finale, but Disney had not publicly confirmed that detail until now.
According to Gustin, Disneyland officials have verified that the guest exited the ride vehicle near the top of the attraction’s main hill.
“Disneyland officials also confirmed the guest exited the ride vehicle near the top of the main hill,” Gustin shared on X.
That location is particularly noteworthy because it leads directly into the attraction’s signature 52.5-foot plunge, the same large drop that was previously featured on Splash Mountain before Disney transformed the attraction into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.
The ride, which draws inspiration from Disney’s beloved animated film The Princess and the Frog, opened at Disneyland in November 2024 and remains one of the most sought-after attractions in the park.
Despite the new information, Disney has not explained how the guest exited the vehicle or what events led up to the incident.
Gustin also noted that while additional claims continue circulating online, he is only reporting details that have been independently confirmed.
“I’ve seen reports on social media that include additional details, but I’m only sharing what I’ve been able to confirm,” he wrote.

For now, many of the specifics remain unknown.
Guests Questioned Why the Ride Reopened So Quickly

As news of the incident spread, another question quickly emerged among Disney fans.
How was the attraction back in operation the very next day?
Many expected a lengthy closure, especially given the seriousness of the reports that surfaced Sunday night.
One social media user voiced a concern shared by many others:
“An incident like this and reopening the next day like nothing happened just doesn’t seem right to me.
Even if they advertised this as the flash up attraction for the summer in most promos, it should’ve been closed for at least a few days to prevent such an issue.”
Gustin later responded with information that explains Disney’s timeline.
“I’m seeing similar questions from others, too. As is standard in situations like this, Cal/OSHA inspectors were on site this morning, reviewed the attraction, and cleared it to reopen.”

The inspection reportedly took place before Tiana’s Bayou Adventure welcomed riders again.
As of this week, the attraction continues operating normally.
What Disney Has Officially Confirmed
Disneyland’s official statement remains brief but direct.
According to the resort:
“Disneyland officials say a 13-year-old guest exited a ride vehicle on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure on Sunday before the attraction ended. The ride was immediately stopped, and the guest was evaluated at a hospital and later released. The attraction reopened and is operating today.”
The statement confirms the guest’s age and that the ride was stopped immediately after the incident occurred.
It also confirms that the guest was transported for medical evaluation and later released.
What Disney has not addressed is whether any operational changes were made following the incident or whether further reviews are underway.
At this point, no additional information has been publicly released.
What This Means for Your Disney Vacation
If Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is on your Disneyland must-do list, the attraction remains open and available to guests.
The same is true for the Magic Kingdom version at Walt Disney World, which utilizes the same ride system and major drop element.
For many families planning Disney vacations this summer, the story serves as a reminder of something guests hear before nearly every attraction: ride safety instructions matter.
Attractions like Tiana’s Bayou Adventure are designed with the expectation that riders remain seated for the duration of the experience. That expectation becomes especially important on rides featuring significant drops and moving ride vehicles.
While Disney has not indicated any broader operational concerns, parents may find it worthwhile to review attraction rules with younger riders before boarding.
For now, Disneyland’s latest update has answered two of the biggest questions surrounding the incident. The guest involved has been released from the hospital, and officials have confirmed the incident occurred near the top of the attraction’s largest drop.
As more details become available, Disney fans will undoubtedly continue following the story closely.
