New Video Shows Aftermath of Major Flooding Inside Magic Kingdom Location
Magic Kingdom guests walking through Frontierland are finding one familiar stop completely unavailable, and a new video from inside the location shows why Disney may have some work ahead.
Frontier Trading Post closed on August 24 after several inches of water reportedly flooded the building overnight. Cast Members have been stationed outside the store, directing guests elsewhere while crews deal with the aftermath.

Now, Rope Drop & Beyond has shared a TikTok showing what the cleanup looks like inside.
The account said workers were “working hard to clean it up,” and the video shows a commercial floor-cleaning machine inside the shop as crews work around the affected area.
It’s a much different scene from what guests would normally encounter at Frontier Trading Post.
Several Inches of Water Reportedly Entered the Store
The trouble reportedly started overnight on August 23.
Several inches of water entered Frontier Trading Post, with emergency services responding and cleanup efforts beginning afterward. Disney kept the location closed the following day rather than attempting to operate around the work.

Exactly how much damage the water caused remains unknown.
Disney has not announced that the building suffered structural damage, nor has the company confirmed that fixtures, walls or electrical components need repairs.
Still, the TikTok provides a revealing look at the amount of cleanup taking place.
When several inches of water get inside a building, removing the standing water doesn’t necessarily mean the job is finished. Crews still have to clean the space and make sure it’s ready for employees and guests.
That’s where the bigger question surrounding Frontier Trading Post begins.
Could Frontier Trading Post Stay Closed Longer?
Disney hasn’t provided a reopening date.
That doesn’t mean an extended closure is guaranteed, but it leaves that possibility on the table.
If the flooding only affected the flooring and crews can clean everything quickly, Frontier Trading Post could potentially return to normal operations without a lengthy interruption.
But if water reached other portions of the interior, Disney may have considerably more work to complete.

The TikTok video doesn’t provide enough information to determine the full extent of the damage. What it does show is that Disney has brought equipment into the location and is actively working on the problem.
For guests, that means Frontier Trading Post should probably be considered unavailable until Disney says otherwise.
The shop is known for western and Native American-themed merchandise and is also a familiar destination for Disney pin traders.
Its sudden closure removes another stop from a Frontierland area already experiencing plenty of change.
Rough Weather Continues to Cause Problems
The incident follows a difficult stretch of weather around Walt Disney World.
Heavy rain, lightning and strong winds recently forced outdoor attractions to temporarily close across the resort. Magic Kingdom also experienced temporary flooding along portions of Adventureland and Tomorrowland.
Frontier Trading Post presents a different problem.
Once lightning moves away, outdoor attractions can eventually begin safety checks and reopen. Water inside a building may require considerably more attention.
That’s why the TikTok from Rope Drop & Beyond is worth watching closely.

Guests can see that this wasn’t simply a few puddles near the entrance. Workers have equipment inside and are actively trying to get the location back into shape.
For now, Disney hasn’t said when that will happen.
Frontier Trading Post could reopen relatively quickly if crews determine the flooding caused minimal damage. If inspections reveal larger problems, however, this unexpected Magic Kingdom closure could last longer than guests initially expected.
Until Disney provides another update, Frontier Trading Post remains one Frontierland destination guests shouldn’t count on visiting.
