Disney Parks Left Nearly Empty as Peak Summer Season Begins
Summer is usually one of the busiest times of the year at Disneyland Resort.
With schools out and vacation season underway, June often brings large crowds to Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure. This year, however, some guests say attendance has felt lighter than expected.

The reports come during Disneyland Resort’s 70th anniversary celebration, which has introduced new entertainment, food, and merchandise offerings across the resort.
Several guests visiting over the weekend shared experiences online describing shorter waits and quieter conditions throughout Disneyland Resort.
Guests Notice Lighter Crowds at Disneyland
On Reddit, one guest shared a photo of the Toy Story Parking Area that appeared relatively quiet for a Saturday in June.
The guest described Disneyland as a “total ghost town” today.
Other visitors reported similar experiences.
“Was there yesterday and crowds were surprisingly low for a Friday!” one guest wrote on Reddit. “Wait times for fantasyland rides were 5-10 mins almost all day and there noticeably less people than on Thursday.”
Some guests said they were able to experience several major attractions in a short amount of time.
Got there right at 8, by 11am, we rode Space Mountain, Thunder Mountain, Tiana’s Bayou, Matterhorn, Alice in Wonderland, Indiana Jones and the Mark Twain boat,” wrote a guest who visited on Friday. “We left by 4 since there wasn’t much to do and it got so hot.”

Photos shared online also appeared to show lighter crowds in New Orleans Square, although the area is currently operating without Pirates of the Caribbean, which remains closed for refurbishment alongside Blue Bayou Restaurant.
Guests also reported quieter conditions in Downtown Disney.
Wait Times Remain Relatively Low
Some visitors suggested blockout dates for lower-tier Magic Key holders could be contributing to lower attendance levels.
“Saturdays in summer have been this way for several years now. You mix a super expensive tier for tickets due to dynamic pricing + block almost all the magic keys, means⦠itās delightful.”

Wait-time data also pointed to a less crowded day at Disneyland Park.
According to Thrill Data, the average wait time at Disneyland Park was 18 minutes as of 3 p.m. PST.
The reports come as Los Angeles hosts matches for the FIFA World Cup. Although major sporting events can increase tourism, they can also influence when and where visitors choose to travel.
A similar trend was reported during the 2024 Summer Olympics, when some travelers postponed visits to Disneyland Paris because they expected larger crowds, higher prices, and transportation disruptions across the region.
Despite forecasts that the Games would boost tourism, several attractions in and around Paris reported lighter-than-expected attendance as some visitors chose to delay trips until after the event.
