Notice Anything Missing? Disney Swaps Out Longtime App Icon Amid Triple-Digit Muppet Coaster Wait
Guests arriving at Disney’s Hollywood Studios this morning immediately noticed that the energy felt different. Sunset Boulevard was filled with crowds almost instantly as Disney officially launched one of the resort’s most talked-about ride transformations. But while visitors rushed toward the attraction itself, another surprising change quietly appeared inside the My Disney Experience app.
Disney used May 26, 2026, to officially begin a brand-new era for Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster.
After months of previews and online discussion, Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets officially opened to the general public today. Disney had already tested operations with preview riders beforehand, but this marked the first unrestricted opening day for regular guests.
The turnout became obvious almost immediately.
Within hours, the attraction reached triple-digit waits as guests packed Hollywood Studios to experience the reimagined coaster for themselves.

Aerosmith’s Era Officially Comes to an End
Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster spent more than two decades connected to Aerosmith. Since opening in 1999, the ride has become one of Walt Disney World’s most recognizable thrill attractions thanks to its launch sequence, fast indoor track, and famous soundtrack.
Disney has now completely replaced that version with an experience centered around Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem.
Guests no longer speed through Los Angeles alongside Aerosmith. Instead, they join the Muppets band for a chaotic concert adventure filled with psychedelic visuals, loud music, bright lighting, and nonstop comedy.
Even with the heavy retheme, Disney preserved the coaster’s core thrills. Riders still experience the same launch, inversions, and fast-paced indoor ride layout that made the attraction popular in the first place.
The overall atmosphere, however, feels entirely different now. The queue, preshow, and visual effects all lean heavily into the colorful Electric Mayhem aesthetic.
For longtime fans, the transformation represents one of the biggest identity changes Disney has made to a major attraction in years.

Disney Opened Multiple Experiences Across the Resort
Hollywood Studios was not the only park pulling massive crowds this morning.
May 26 officially became one of Disney World’s biggest rollout dates of the year, thanks to several openings happening across the resort simultaneously. Alongside the Muppets coaster debut, Disney also launched Bluey’s Wild World at Animal Kingdom while introducing additional offerings at Hollywood Studios.
Families flocked to Animal Kingdom early in the morning as Bluey’s Wild World officially welcomed guests following strong preview demand. Bluey’s popularity with younger audiences has already turned the area into one of Disney’s most anticipated family experiences.
Over at Hollywood Studios, Disney also opened the Walt Disney Studios courtyard and debuted Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live!, helping create unusually heavy crowds throughout the park.
Still, the largest crowds clearly centered around Sunset Boulevard.
Opening days at Disney World always attract attention, but replacement attractions create an even stronger reaction. Many guests wanted to compare the new Muppets version directly to the Aerosmith attraction they had known for decades.
By early morning, Lightning Lane return times had already expanded while standby waits surged rapidly.

Disney Finished One Final Piece of the Retheme
Alongside the coaster’s official debut, Disney also updated a longtime feature inside the My Disney Experience app.
For years, the attraction used a red guitar icon closely associated with the Aerosmith version of Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster. Disney fans instantly recognized the image whenever checking the map.
That guitar has now vanished.
Guests opening the app today noticed that Disney swapped the old design for a much more colorful, electric guitar-inspired by the Electric Mayhem aesthetic. The new icon uses bright psychedelic styling that matches the updated attraction theme.
The change may seem small compared to the physical ride overhaul, but fans immediately recognized its significance. The red guitar had remained one of the last visible reminders of the Aerosmith era.
Now, Disney has fully transitioned every part of the attraction into its Muppets identity.

Wait Times May Continue Climbing
The coaster’s opening-day demand quickly became one of the biggest stories of the morning.
Around 8:00 a.m., posted waits had already climbed to roughly 110 minutes despite the park still largely operating under Early Entry conditions for Disney resort guests.
That kind of demand this early raised plenty of eyebrows.
As more visitors entered Hollywood Studios throughout the morning, crowds continued building across the park. Given the anticipation surrounding the retheme, Disney probably expected heavy traffic, yet the early triple-digit waits still signal enormous interest.
The afternoon could become even busier once park-hopping guests begin arriving in larger numbers.
For now, though, Disney’s newest version of Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster appears to be off to a very loud start.
