Savi’s Workshop Lightsaber Experience Reserved for Guests 9 and Under

Savi’s Workshop, one of the most coveted interactive experiences in any Disney park, is getting a kids-first makeover this summer at Disneyland Resort.

Kicking off May 22 as part of Kids Rule Summer at Disneyland Resort, the Youngling Saber Building Expo – A Loth-Cat Crew Experience brings a no-cost lightsaber building session to Savi’s Workshop in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. According to Disney Parks Blog, the experience is completely free for participants…compared to the standard Savi’s Workshop reservation, which runs $249.99 per person.

The workshop is tailored for children aged three to nine, each of whom must be accompanied by an adult. Together, young Disney Park guests and their supervising adults will be welcomed into the Loth-Cat Crew and guided through a lightsaber-building adventure by Disney cast members in a setting that leans fully into the Star Wars universe. Capacity is limited, and scheduling details will be available on Disneyland Resort’s official website when the experience launches on May 22.

One detail families should know before they arrive: free access to the workshop doesn’t automatically mean a free lightsaber to bring home. Children will build during the session, but the finished saber stays at the workshop unless the family chooses to purchase it at the end of the session. Pricing for that option hasn’t been announced yet, and guests who don’t buy will be expected to return the lightsaber before leaving Batuu.

For anyone unfamiliar with Savi’s Workshop, the typical experience at both Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort requires an advance reservation and a $249.99 fee per participant. Included in that price is the full immersive experience and all the components to construct a functional, take-home lightsaber. Optional deluxe add-ons are available at an extra charge.

Walt Disney World Resort has not announced a comparable free Savi’s Workshop experience as part of Cool KIDS’ Summer, its own seasonal programming push for younger guests at the Central Florida Disney parks.
