Every Disney World Passholder Needs to Know About This Virtual Queue Before May 21

The Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets Passholder preview virtual queue is now showing up on My Disney Experience, and if you are an Annual Passholder with plans to ride before opening day on May 26, this is the information you need before Wednesday arrives.

Previews run May 21, 22, and 23. Each day has three virtual queue windows. The window you can access depends on what park reservation you have, and the difference between them is significant enough to plan around right now.

The Three Disney Virtual Queue Windows

The 7 a.m. window is the first and most advantageous entry point. Passholders with a Disney’s Hollywood Studios park reservation can join the virtual queue at 7 a.m. on each preview day. You do not need to be physically inside the park or any park at all to join at 7 a.m. You can be at home, at your hotel, or in the parking lot. If you have a Hollywood Studios reservation on any of the three preview dates, set an alarm and have the app open before 7 a.m.

The 11 a.m. window opens the eligibility significantly. At 11 a.m., Passholders with a reservation to any Walt Disney World theme park, not just Hollywood Studios, can join the virtual queue. This is the window that makes park hopping a viable strategy. Reserve another park in the morning, hop to Hollywood Studios later, and join the queue at 11 a.m. while you are already on your way.

The 3 p.m. window is the broadest option. At 3 p.m. the virtual queue opens to all Annual Passholders regardless of whether they have any park reservation. This is the last opportunity of the day and based on the demand this attraction is already generating it will fill quickly.

What the Demand Already Looks Like

Two of the three preview dates sold out Disney’s Hollywood Studios park reservations almost immediately after previews were announced. May 22 sold out first, partly because it also marks the launch of the new Mandalorian and Grogu mission at Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run which drove additional reservation demand. May 21 followed shortly after. Reservations have since become available again, but the initial sellout tells you everything you need to know about how fast those virtual queue windows are going to move.

The On-Ride Disney Photo Perk

Passholders who ride during the May 21-23 preview window receive a complimentary download of their on-ride photo. That perk does not apply after the attraction opens to the general public on May 26. If you ride during previews, the photo is free. If you ride after opening day, it is not.

What the Ride Actually Is

Rock’ n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets keeps the high-speed launch, the inversions, and the G-Force Records setting of the original Aerosmith version, while replacing the entire thematic world with The Electric Mayhem. The queue features Muppet props, Electric Mayhem band posters, and celebrity cameos. The tracklist features rock covers performed by the band. The ride launches with the same force and runs through the same physical experience guests have been riding since 1999, wrapped in a completely new visual and audio world.

A virtual queue is not planned for the May 26 general opening. Opening day will run on standby and Lightning Lane.

The previews are on Wednesday. The app is ready. The 7 a.m. window is the one to target.
