A major shift is coming to EPCOT, and many Disney fans are already preparing for it before it officially begins.
Starting May 26, EPCOT’s entire rope drop strategy could look completely different thanks to the arrival of Soarin’ Across America inside The Land pavilion.
Disney’s updated version of the classic attraction is expected to draw massive crowds immediately, especially during opening week. While EPCOT has several rides that already dominate morning demand, Soarin’ may suddenly leap near the very top of the list.

And that could create serious ripple effects throughout the entire park.
Soarin’ Is About To Become One of EPCOT’s Biggest Attractions Again
Soarin’ has always been one of EPCOT’s most beloved attractions, but over the years, many guests stopped prioritizing it during rope drop.
That happened for a pretty simple reason.
The attraction typically handles crowds well thanks to its large theater system and strong hourly capacity. Guests often felt comfortable saving it for later in the day while they rushed toward bigger standby priorities like Frozen Ever After, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, or Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.
May 26 changes everything.
Disney is replacing Soarin’ Around the World with Soarin’ Across America, a limited-time experience tied to the company’s America 250 celebration. The attraction will feature brand-new footage focused entirely on American landmarks, landscapes, and cityscapes.
For longtime EPCOT fans, that is a huge deal.
There is already major curiosity surrounding the updated ride film, and many guests are expected to prioritize it immediately before the novelty wears off.
The Land Pavilion Could Become Morning Chaos
If enough guests suddenly pivot toward Soarin’, EPCOT’s crowd flow could start looking very different.
The Land pavilion may become one of the busiest places in the entire park during the first hour of operation.
That creates an interesting dynamic because EPCOT crowds naturally split in different directions during rope drop. Guests entering through International Gateway usually rush toward France and World Showcase attractions, while front entrance guests scatter across World Celebration and World Discovery.
Now a significant percentage of those guests may suddenly head toward The Land instead.
And unlike attractions with continuously moving lines, Soarin’ has always handled crowds in a much different way.
The Queue Experience Can Feel Much Longer Than It Looks
One thing many guests forget about Soarin’ is how strange the standby queue can feel once it becomes crowded.
The attraction loads guests into giant theater sections all at once, which means the line often stops completely for several minutes before suddenly moving forward again.
You are not slowly walking through the queue the entire time.
Instead, guests frequently stand in one place waiting for the next theater cycle to open. Then the line suddenly advances in large chunks before stopping again.
When wait times stay manageable, it is not a huge issue.
But once crowds build?
That stop-and-start pacing can make the attraction feel far longer than the posted wait time suggests.
If Soarin’ Across America opens to the kind of demand many expect, guests may quickly rediscover just how frustrating that queue rhythm can become.

Lightning Lane Priorities Could Shift Overnight
This change may also impact how guests use Lightning Lane selections at EPCOT.
For years, many visitors ignored Soarin’ reservations because the attraction’s standby line usually stayed manageable compared to Frozen or Remy.
That may no longer be true after May 26.
Guests who normally reserve other attractions could suddenly shift toward Soarin’ instead, especially if social media begins filling with reports of massive morning waits.
That would create secondary crowd shifts elsewhere throughout EPCOT.
And honestly, Disney may not fully know how large the demand will become until opening week actually arrives.
Early Entry Guests Will Have a Major Advantage
If there was ever a time to use Early Entry at EPCOT, this might be it.
Disney Resort hotel guests will likely have the best opportunity to experience Soarin’ before the attraction becomes overwhelmed later in the morning.
Everyone else could walk into an already-packed standby queue shortly after official opening.
That is especially important because summer crowds are already beginning to ramp up across Walt Disney World. Adding a limited-time version of one of EPCOT’s most nostalgic attractions into the middle of summer vacation season feels like a recipe for huge demand.
And Disney fans know it.
EPCOT’s Morning Routine May Never Feel the Same This Summer
For many returning guests, EPCOT rope drop strategy became almost automatic over the past several years.
That routine may officially disappear beginning May 26.
Soarin’ Across America is not just another temporary overlay. For many Disney fans, it feels like the return of something emotionally familiar, especially for guests who still miss the original Soarin’ experience.
That emotional connection matters.
It is why so many people are suddenly changing their morning plans.
And once those crowds start flooding into The Land pavilion, EPCOT mornings may look completely different for the rest of the summer.
