Famous Disney Attraction Getting Rethemed End of February

A beloved Disney attraction is set to make a temporary return, and fans won’t want to miss it.

While Disneyland Resort may not be undergoing a transformation quite as massive as Walt Disney World, that doesn’t mean big changes aren’t on the horizon. With the DisneylandForward initiative promising exciting expansions, the arrival of the Avatar franchise, and the continued evolution of Avengers Campus, the next decade is shaping up to be a thrilling one for Disney’s original theme park resort.

Before that, however, Disney California Adventure Park will welcome the return of its annual Food & Wine Festival. Running from February 28 through April 21, the festival will once again bring food marketplaces, culinary demonstrations, and specialty beverage locations to the park.

But that’s not all. One fan-favorite attraction is also getting a nostalgic update for the festival. The ever-popular Soarin’ Around the World will temporarily step aside for its predecessor, Soarin’ Over California—giving guests a chance to relive the original experience while indulging in the festival’s culinary delights.

“Soarin’ Around the World transforms into Soarin’ Over California as part of the Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival—February 28 through April 21, 2025,” reads the official Disneyland Resort website. “Please check back for updates.”

First debuting in 2001, Soarin’ Over California was the original version of the attraction, but in June 2016, it was replaced by Soarin’ Around the World in the park’s Grizzly Peak area. For those who have never experienced it—or simply want to enjoy it again—here’s what awaits riders at Soarin’ Over California:

The journey begins as the fog rolls away to unveil the Golden Gate Bridge. From there, guests are whisked across stunning California landmarks, including Yosemite National Park, Napa Valley, Lake Tahoe, Palm Springs, San Diego harbor, Malibu at dusk, and the dazzling lights of downtown Los Angeles, before soaring triumphantly over Disneyland Park.

With Soarin’ Over California set to take flight on February 28, the last day to experience Soarin’ Around the World will be February 27. Fans eager to catch the global version should make their way to the park before it temporarily departs.

Adding to the mix, Disneyland Resort is now under new leadership, with Thomas Mazloum stepping in as president following Ken Potrock’s transition to Major Events Integration for The Walt Disney Company. But before fans get too wrapped up in what’s next, the focus this year will be on Disneyland’s milestone 70th-anniversary celebrations, kicking off on May 16, 2025.
