Disney World Braces for Heavy Summer Crowds Following Major Attraction Rollouts

If you thought Walt Disney World felt busy earlier this year, things may be about to get far more intense.

Disney is stacking new offerings across nearly every park at the exact same time, and it feels like the company is preparing for a major summer attendance surge. Big attraction debuts, returning fan-favorite experiences, new entertainment, heavy vacation discounts, and exclusive perks are all arriving together, creating what could become one of Disney World’s busiest stretches in recent memory.

Hollywood Studios may end up becoming the biggest pressure point.

The park already draws massive crowds thanks to attractions like Slinky Dog Dash, Rise of the Resistance, Tower of Terror, and Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway. On busy days, several of those rides regularly hit wait times well over an hour. Now Disney is introducing even more reasons for guests to spend entire days there.

Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets is one of the biggest additions. Fans have spent months waiting to see how Disney would transform the longtime coaster, and the curiosity surrounding the retheme alone could create huge lines during opening weeks. Disney fans tend to rush toward anything new, especially when it involves a beloved franchise like The Muppets.

That is only part of the problem.

Hollywood Studios is also adding Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live!, which gives younger families another major reason to prioritize the park. Disney has been trying to make Hollywood Studios feel more balanced for families with small children, and this new stage show fits directly into that strategy.

Animation Courtyard is also continuing its transformation. Construction projects and updated entertainment areas always attract attention because guests want to experience the newest version of the park before everyone else.

Then there is Cool Kid Summer.

Disney is heavily leaning into family-focused entertainment this year, and Bluey could end up becoming one of the biggest crowd magnets anywhere at Walt Disney World. The character’s popularity with younger children has exploded, and Disney knows families will travel specifically to experience limited-time offerings connected to popular characters.

That demand spreads quickly throughout the resort.

Families booking trips for Bluey, Cool Kid Summer, or new entertainment offerings will still visit Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, and Animal Kingdom while they are there. That creates heavier demand for Lightning Lanes, dining reservations, transportation, and hotels across the entire property.

EPCOT could also see major attendance increases thanks to the return of Soarin’ Across America. Many longtime Disney fans still prefer the original version of the attraction over Soarin’ Around the World, and the nostalgia surrounding its return is creating genuine excitement online.

At the same time, Disney continues offering hotel discounts, vacation deals, and special perks for Annual Passholders and resort guests. Early Entry, Extended Evening Hours, and Lightning Lane Premier Passes are all changing how guests move through the parks. More visitors are arriving earlier than ever in hopes of beating crowds, while others are paying premium prices to skip lines entirely.

The result may be a summer where Disney World feels crowded almost everywhere.

And honestly, Disney probably wants exactly that.
