Official ‘Jurassic Park’ Project May Recast Original Actors

It’s fair to say that most of the human characters in the Jurassic Park franchise have become just as iconic as the dinosaurs themselves.

Over the years, characters such as Alan Grant (Sam Neill), Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern), and Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) have returned repeatedly across sequels, including The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997) and Jurassic World Dominion (2022), reinforcing the franchise’s long-standing reliance on familiar faces alongside its prehistoric spectacle.

That trend has extended beyond live-action films. Even animated entries like Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous (2020—2022) and Jurassic World: Chaos Theory (2024—2025) have continued to feature returning characters, often with different voice performers.

In many ways, Jurassic Park has built a reputation where characters are almost as enduring as the dinosaurs themselves. Now, that legacy-first approach could heavily influence the franchise’s next major release, which is already steeped in nostalgia.

Jurassic Park: Survival (TBA), developed by Saber Interactive in partnership with Universal Pictures, takes place on Isla Nublar just 24 hours after the events of the original 1993 film. That setting alone positions the game as a nostalgia-heavy return to the franchise’s most iconic moment, revisiting the park immediately after its collapse.

The only confirmed playable character is Dr. Maya Joshi, an InGen scientist voiced and performed in motion capture by Payal Mistry. However, the game’s timeline opens the door to speculation about whether familiar faces from the film could appear in some capacity, whether it’s through flashbacks or some kind of DLC that involves reliving key moments from the film.

The game will allow players to explore fully realized locations from the original film, including the Visitor Center and park facilities, alongside new areas never previously seen on screen.

Because of its setting, speculation has focused heavily on legacy involvement. While nothing has been confirmed, characters such as John Hammond, Lex Murphy, and Tim Murphy exist within the timeline window. Even deceased characters could theoretically appear through flashbacks, recovered recordings, or reconstructed narrative sequences.

Jurassic Park: Survival is in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, with no release date announced.
