On Monday afternoon, Disneyland Park guests who tried to get close to the Millennium Falcon found themselves turned away without explanation.

On the afternoon of April 20, Disney cast members formed a barrier around the Millennium Falcon structure at Disneyland Park, preventing guests from walking near the ship. The exterior of the Millennium Falcon is one of the most sought-after photo opportunities in all of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, drawing visitors who want to pose in front of the Lucasfilm icon on nearly every visit.

@laughingplace reported the development on X (formerly Twitter), sharing photos of Disney cast members holding the line around the structure.

The entire Millennium Falcon area is currently blocked off at #Disneyland’s Galaxy’s Edge.

No explanation was provided to guests or released publicly by Disneyland Resort, leaving the reason for the sudden restriction a complete mystery. Whether it stemmed from a safety issue, scheduled commercial filming, or some other operational need remains unknown.

The exterior blockade didn’t extend to the ship’s interior. Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run operated without disruption throughout the afternoon, maintaining a roughly 30-minute wait time on the Disneyland Resort app while the surrounding area stayed off-limits to foot traffic.

What’s Ahead for the Millennium Falcon

The timing of Monday’s closure adds some intrigue, given how much is about to change around the attraction. On April 29, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Park will undergo a timeline split, with the section of Batuu containing Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run and Oga’s Cantina transitioning to the era of the original Lucasfilm trilogy, making way for appearances by Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Leia Organa. The other half of the land will remain set in the sequel era.

On May 22, the attraction itself will debut a completely new mission inspired by The Mandalorian & Grogu (2026), launching the same day the film opens in theaters. The updated experience will mark the first time guests join Din Djarin and Grogu on a mission, and, for the first time in the ride’s history, passengers will get to choose their own destination.
