Disneyland is Set Debut New Princess This Month Changing The Parks Dynamic Forever
Disney is not done announcing original trilogy characters for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland, and the latest reveal is the one that makes the whole picture click into place. Princess Leia is coming to Batuu. Disney just dropped the first look at her costume, and she will be standing in the same area as Han Solo, near the Millennium Falcon, when the land’s timeline shift begins on April 29.
The Costume Is Not What Most People Expected
Leia will not be appearing in the white dress from A New Hope, which is probably the first image most people picture of the character. Instead, she is wearing a white jumpsuit with a brown vest, a look inspired by her Hoth outfit in The Empire Strikes Back but technically a brand-new costume created specifically for the parks.
The outfit makes practical sense for Batuu’s climate and gives the character her own identity within the land rather than pulling directly from a single film moment. Her hair is braided across the top of her head. The reveal video shows her meeting R2-D2 in front of the Millennium Falcon, which is exactly where guests will find her starting April 29.

What Is Actually Changing on April 29 at Disneyland
The timeline shift affects the Disneyland version of Galaxy’s Edge specifically and does not apply to the Walt Disney World version at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Starting April 29, the Millennium Falcon area shifts to the original trilogy era. Leia, Han Solo, Chewbacca, and R2-D2 will all meet guests near the Falcon.
Luke Skywalker will appear near Savi’s Workshop. Darth Vader replaces Kylo Ren, roaming the land with Stormtroopers. Rey stays near Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, which remains in the sequel era. Both timelines coexist within the land rather than one replacing the other entirely.
Han Solo Started This
The conversation around this timeline shift really took off when Disney announced Han Solo was coming to Galaxy’s Edge earlier this week. The Millennium Falcon has been the centerpiece of the land since day one, and the absence of its most famous pilot was something fans pointed out consistently from the moment the land opened.
His classic outfit, blue vest, off-white shirt, brown pants, and blaster, landed exactly right with fans who have been waiting for this since 2019.

Leia joining him near the Falcon completes something that has felt unfinished for years. The two characters together in that specific location, with Chewbacca and R2-D2 also present, create the original trilogy environment that fans imagined when Galaxy’s Edge was first announced.
Why This Matters for Disneyland
Galaxy’s Edge opened with a sequel-era focus that made sense at the time, given where the film franchise was. But the pull toward the original trilogy has never gone away, and Disney has clearly been paying attention to what guests actually want when they walk into Batuu.
Bringing in Han Solo, Leia, Luke, and Darth Vader is not a subtle adjustment. It is a direct acknowledgment that the classic characters carry the deepest connection for the widest audience.
For guests heading to Disneyland on or after April 29, the Millennium Falcon area will feel genuinely different. The crew is finally home, and for a lot of Star Wars fans, that is going to be the moment Galaxy’s Edge becomes what they always hoped it would be.
