Disney Continues to Tease More Surprises for the Muppets Coaster at Hollywood Studios

Disney had a busy day. In the span of a few hours, the company confirmed the official opening date for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets, released the full set list guests will hear on the ride, and teased exclusive preview access for a select group of guests before the general public ever gets near the queue. If you are an Annual Passholder, a Disney Vacation Club member, or a cast member, today’s news was specifically meant for you.

May 26 Is the Date

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets opens on May 26 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the day after Memorial Day. The ride’s Aerosmith version closed permanently in early March, meaning Disney will deliver a fully rethemed attraction in roughly three months. That is a fast turnaround by any standard, made possible by the fact that the existing ride system, the launch, the inversions, the track, is staying exactly where it is. Everything built around it is new.

What the Ride Actually Is

The attraction is set inside G-Force Records, now owned by Scooter’s uncle J.P. Grosse. The queue is packed with Electric Mayhem posters, celebrity cameos, and props pulled from the now-closed MuppetVision 3D. Guests will find penguin audio engineers scrambling during a recording session and a brand-new Audio-Animatronic figure of Scooter, one of the most talked-about additions in today’s announcement.

The pre-show features Kermit, Miss Piggy, Scooter, and the penguins setting up a story that will feel immediately familiar to anyone who has ever seen the original ride. The Electric Mayhem is late for a concert. You are the one helping them get there. The vehicles guests board are called L.I.M.O.s, which stands for Lengthy Immediate Motion Object, built by Muppets Labs. Same speed, same launch, completely different energy.

The Muppets Set List Is Out

Disney released the full set list today, confirming exactly what Dr. Teeth and The Electric Mayhem will be performing during the ride. The music was always going to be the most scrutinized part of this retheme, given how deeply the Aerosmith soundtrack was tied to the original experience. The set list is now public and has already generated strong reactions from fans comparing the two eras of the attraction.

Exclusive Muppets Previews Are Coming

Before May 26, Disney confirmed that exclusive previews will be held for cast members, eligible Disney Vacation Club members, and Annual Passholders. Dates have not been announced yet, which is very much intentional. Disney described it as still to come, which means the tease is doing exactly what it is supposed to: keeping passholders and DVC members locked in and checking for updates. When those dates drop, and they will drop soon, given how close the opening is, the response is going to be immediate.

Why This Matters

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith ran for close to 27 years at Hollywood Studios. It was one of the park’s signature thrill rides and carried genuine nostalgia for a generation of Disney guests.

Replacing it with The Muppets was always going to be a divisive call, and the reactions since the retheme was announced have reflected exactly that. But what Disney revealed today suggests this is not a superficial overlay. A new animatronic, a queue built out with real Muppets history, a vehicle redesign with an actual name and backstory, and a set list from one of the most beloved fictional bands in pop culture history. The bones of the ride are the same. Everything else is new.

May 26 is five weeks away. Exclusive previews are coming before that. And Disney is already making it clear that today’s announcement was not the last one connected to this attraction. For anyone who has been watching this retheme unfold since March, the wait is almost over.
