Disney Replaced DinoLand U.S.A. and a New Permit Just Exposed How Far Along It Really Is

If you have been keeping an eye on the construction walls at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, here is your update. Disney just filed another permit for the Encanto ride going up inside Pueblo Esperanza, the new land replacing everything DinoLand U.S.A. left behind, and it tells us more than you might expect.

What the Permit Says

The new permit covers the installation of set elements at 504 Dinoland Drive in Bay Lake, Florida, which is the current address of the Encanto attraction build site. The address still carries the DinoLand U.S.A. name, which feels like a small piece of history hanging on while everything around it changes.

The contractor handling the work is Mecca Productions LLC, a Central Florida-based firm that specializes in props and scenery for theme park attractions. Their client list includes Disney, Disney Cruise Line, NBCUniversal, SeaWorld, Dollywood, and Busch Gardens, among others. Bringing in a fabrication company at this stage suggests the Encanto ride is moving past structural construction and into the detailed design work that actually makes an attraction feel like a place worth visiting.

What Is Being Built Per The Permit

Pueblo Esperanza is the new Tropical Americas themed land coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom in place of DinoLand U.S.A. The land is shaping up to be one of the more substantial expansions Animal Kingdom has seen in years, with multiple attractions and a major new dining location all coming as part of the same project.

The anchor attraction is the Encanto ride, bringing the world of the Madrigal family to life inside the park for the first time. Alongside it, guests can expect a carousel attraction and a brand-new Indiana Jones ride, giving the land three distinct experiences to anchor it. The architecture throughout will lean into a Spanish style that sets Pueblo Esperanza apart visually from the rest of Animal Kingdom.

On the food side, a large hacienda-style restaurant is coming to the area and is expected to become one of the biggest quick-service locations at Walt Disney World. For a park that has historically struggled with dining capacity during peak hours, that addition alone is a meaningful upgrade.

When It Opens

Pueblo Esperanza is targeting a 2027 opening. There is still a significant amount of construction ahead, but permit filings like this one are a reliable sign that things are moving. Set element installation is the kind of work that happens when a project is transitioning from bones to details, which is exactly the phase you want to see a 2027 attraction reach right now.

DinoLand U.S.A. is not coming back. But if Pueblo Esperanza delivers on what Disney is building, the trade might end up feeling worth it.

Stay tuned for more Animal Kingdom construction updates as Pueblo Esperanza moves toward its 2027 opening.
