‘Deadpool 4’: New Information Comes to Light as Ryan Reynolds Replaced
Will Deadpool 4 actually happen? It’s a question fans have been asking ever since Deadpool & Wolverine hit theaters in 2024 — and even the people closest to the franchise don’t seem to have a clear answer yet.

What’s Been Said About Deadpool 4?
During the promotional tour for Deadpool & Wolverine in 2024, Reynolds himself admitted he didn’t know if he would ever play the character again. “I have no idea if I’ll ever wear that Deadpool suit again,” he told Collider. “I hope I do — but I don’t know.”
Director Shawn Levy echoed similar sentiments while reflecting on the difficulty of continuing successful franchises. “I’m a fan of a lot of threes in the trilogies of movies,” he told Kevin McCarthy (via The Playlist) in 2025. “I love Back to the Future 3. I love Return of the King. [Endgame was] such a superior audience experience.” He added that sequels can be “dauntingly hard,” noting that even after directing three Night at the Museum films, the process remained stressful because filmmakers want to get it right.

New Information Comes to Light
Most recently, Deadpool (2016) and Deadpool 2 (2016) star TJ Miller addressed the possibility of another film while discussing Ryan Reynolds’ ideas for the character.
“It has not sailed,” Miller said in a recent interview with 101 WRIF Detroit when asked whether he could return as Weasel. “And that’s all I’m going to say about that. Okay. Marvel gets so weird about this stuff. They’re just like, don’t talk about it, don’t talk about it. … And I will also say that his [Reynolds’] idea for the next Deadpool film is, like, really good. You know, it’s just, it is really smart.”

Deadpool Rumors and Recasting
Even without an official fourth film announced, speculation about Deadpool’s future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe hasn’t slowed down. Some rumors suggest the character could appear in the massive crossover event Avengers: Doomsday (2026), which is scheduled for release later this year.
But will Reynolds return as Wade Wilson? Given the character’s popularity and the global box-office success of Deadpool, Deadpool 2, and Deadpool & Wolverine (2024), it’s hard to imagine Marvel has plans to retire the Merc with a Mouth.
While there are no plans to replace Reynolds as Deadpool, the actor has been recast in another superhero role: Hal Jordan. Recently, DC Studios unveiled the first official trailer for Lanterns, a new series that forms part of James Gunn’s DC Universe, with Kyle Chandler (The Wolf of Wall Street) taking over as the character Reynolds played in the widely panned 2011 box-office flop, Green Lantern.
